WARNING on Global Warranty.......2008-01-02
Do NOT purchase this item, or any HP item for that matter. Whilst they (HP) profess to be a `Global Company' that offer Global warranties on their products, this is simply lip service.
If the product you purchase does in fact show blatant signs of a fault well within the warranty period and heaven forbid you seek to rely on their GLOBAL warranty, you will be most perturbed to discover GLOBAL warranty is code for:
`we will not do anything to assist you if you did not purchase the product in this country, and despite advertising suggesting we are a reputable international company, we will insist the item be returned to the country of origin, at the purchaser's own expense; only to have the item replaced with a re-conditioned model (which only comes with a 3 month repair warranty)'
I can see how the words global warranty take up less space on their website and guarantee booklets, but one could argue misleading and deception conduct under the Trade Practices Act, or the Sale of Goods Act.
I was further disgusted to be told that HP did not care that the faulty item was purchased for as a 70th birthday present for my Grandmother, telling me, the age of the customer is irrelevant! Excuse me....I remember a time that respect for our elders was freely given, and rightly so.
I was upset to hear that it took her 4 months of agonising to let me know it was faulty because she was worried I would be devastated that my gift to her didn't work.
I will never again purchase from HP, and I would recommend all who read this think twice too.
Whether it be a camera, a laptop, a printer or any other item - the 12 month warranty will never guarantee you a new for used replacement (as confirmed by HP Management), but only a reconditioned model, which may also stop working after 3 months, leaving you with no recourse but to purchase another replacement item yourself.
HP further confirmed that if you purchase an item duty free whilst on holidays or away on business, the will insist the item be returned to the country of origin for repair or replacement at full cost to you the consumer (but they will return it to you free of charge! Wow - what a gesture of good will!)
No longer is the customer always right, corporate business no longer care about the consumer, or the quality of products, and why should they, once you pay out your hard earned cash they can wipe their hands clean of any customer service.
HP - Hopeless products.
Please purchase a camera from Sony, Canon, Casio or Kodak.
Compact and easy to use.......2007-11-18
I've had an R727 for about 6 months now, and I've been really pleased with it. The camera is small and slim, and has a metal shell which makes it more robust than cheap-and-nasty plastic models. There are no protruding buttons or wheels to break off, and the internal zoom lens minimises external moving parts.
6.2 mega pixels may not sound like very much when 10.x MP cameras are out there, but the quality is great for enlarging up to about A3 size. The auto focus is crisp, and the variety of shooting modes, both automatic and manual, make it a really versatile piece of kit. If you haven't got a clue, the camera can function as a point and shoot, and if you're a bit more savvy, then you can choose the settings you need.
I've had some great photos from this camera, and the video quality is quite good too. It has 32mb internal memory, and there is a slot for an sd card (up to 2gb). I have a 2gb card, and can fit around 1,100 photos on there (all at 6.2MP).
The bundled software makes it easy to transfer your photos, and there's even a button on the camera designed to work with your Snapfish account, allowing you to choose which photos you want to print or email.
All in all, an excellent camera, with superb service from the staff at HP (I dropped my first camera, and they sent a brand new replacement with no questions asked within a matter of days). However, I would recommend shopping around - I got my camera for £60 new: Amazon's price of £180+ doesn't quite hit the mark!

Superb sound - looks especially good glowing in the dark!.......2007-09-30
Sound quality is excellent, especially when I upgraded the earphones. Sounds brilliant through Logitech external powered speakers with woofer. Huge memory means plenty of variety on the "Rarely Heard" random option.
I like the software that's used for ripping CDs etc - clear and easy to use.
It's worth investing in a mains charger (the dedicated one available on-line from Creative is pricey but worth it - very cheap chargers will run the device but not top up the battery very well). Being able to swop batteries is useful; I bought a spare for holidays etc but it does have to be charged in the player itself.
It takes a while to get used to the touch sensitive control panel, which can be frustrating at first (like learning to ride a bike) but it soon becomes second nature.
What a Little Beauty........2006-08-05
I went out and bought this mp3 player yesterday.
It's absolutely brilliant, the colour and quality are superb.
I have always bought creative mp3 players and to this day
They haven't let me down.
You don't get the mains charger with it just a USB but if your on the
Computer a lot it shouldn't matter. Just plug it up while your on the
Computer doesn't interfere with anything your doing.
When you first turn it on the only thing I couldn't work out was how to
Scroll up and down but you don't press you just move your fingers up
And down if that makes sense.
This is an all around excellent mp3 player great for running or just chillin.
I wouldn't buy any other I haven't found anything wrong with this mp3 player
And I don't expect too creative have delivered once again.
Who wants an Ipod i certainly dont.......2006-05-11
I got this player about a week ago after i had spent months researching mp3 players read all the good and bad things about Ipods, creative, Iriver etc etc i was not even sure if i should get an 4, 6, 8, 10,20 or 30gb player? the only thing i was certain of was 'i didnt want to be one of the apple ipod crowd' and im glad im not, in the end i opted for this little beauty, as for some criticisms that i have read on web sites about this player its beyond me some people just complain about the smallest of details, ok the touch pad is a little tricky to begin with but you soon get used to that, my only gripes would be is you cannot see whats on the display outside in daylight unless you cup your hand over the screen or go somewhere a little darker and the lock switch is too close to the headphone jack but im not gonna lose sleep over this, the sound quality is supurb and if you want to get around the EU volume cap then just download the US version of the latest firmware reload, reboot and hey presto you will definatley notice the difference in volume, trust me you wont want it on the maximum.
This player looks and feels great especially with the neon blue glow and every ipod owner i know who have seen this have been surprised at how good this player is, its a shame most people are brainwashed into thinking ipod is the only mp3 player worth getting.
well done creative this is a winner for me even if others dont it is.
Good but has its flaws.......2006-03-18
The creative zen MicroPhoto white has a good music storage capacity of around 4000 songs and a battery life of around 15 hours from creatives rechargeable and removable lithium battery. The use of coloured menus and inovative vertical touch pad make this mp3 player extremmely easy to use. The creative has a built in voice recorder so you can record those boring lectures and it also has a built in fm radio, that allows you to preset up to 32 of your favourite stations and if you like to listen to your morning shows at night then the creative lets you to record the show for playback later on. Other features of this mp3 player are a choice of 8 equaliser presets to fine tune your listening, use the device as a portable storage device and why not synch your calendars and contacts from microsoft outlook. In all of this so far we are overlooking what creative see as one of the main selling points of this mp3 player and that is the units ability to store and display photos on creatives vivid colour display and i confirm this is an excellent feature. The creative can play the following audio formats; mp3, wma, janus, wav, ima adpcm. In order to use the creative you need the following specification: microsoft windows xp (service pack 1 or higher) / XP 64-bit, Intel Pentium II 350 MHz or AMD K6-2 450 MHz (Pentium III 450 MHz or higher, 64mb ram, USB port, CD-ROM drive with digital audio extraction support. In the box you get Zen MicroPhoto, earphones, rechargeable Lithium battery, USB Cable, Pouch, Installation CD and Quick Start Guide. The unit lost a star for a couple of reasons for example: no charger or wired remote so charging is only available through usb but this can be sorted as a charger and remote are available at extra cost and In my opinion the fm radio on the creative is flawed as it can barely pick up stations however I recommend this unit as on mp3 playback the unit sounds exceptional. If you can overlook the cost of the missing accs and dont want the creative for the fm function then the creative is definitly a heavyweight contendor.

What an amazing little player. I have read some problems with this player and its software but it worked perfectly from the box despite DHL lobbing it over my garden wall!
If you are thinking of getting this player treat yourself to the remote and the charger. The battery doesn't last long so be warned.
It took me no longer than 1 hour to install the software and load 636 tracks. This product is quality
