6 Megapixel 12x Optical Zoom with Mega Optical Image Stabilizer in a compact body Panasonic is introducing the incoming LUMIX model 6.0-megapixel DMCFZ7 with MEGA O.I.S., Optical Image Stabilizer that compensates the hand-shake, incorporating a 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 36mm to 432mm on a 35mm film camera) LEICA DC lens. Differing from the FZ30 with manual focus ring and manual zoom ring, which was already released and highly evaluated by prosumers, the FZ7 is more compact and easy to carry while preserving the same powerful zoom capability and manual controllability. It is the heir to the 5.0-megapixel DMCFZ5, but enhanced its excellence not only with the total number of pixels but also with other innovative technical improvements such as incorporation of joystick which allows easy manual control on focusing in addition to the manual exposure setting. The 1.8-Inch LCD monitor for FZ5 has become large as 2.5-Inch for FZ7 gaining much brightness even in the low-lit situations thanks to the pixel-mixed readout method performed at the CCD. Very good value for the features it provides, in particular the 12x optical zoom. Disappointed with the fuzziness of the image pixels at higher magnification and the lack of manual control for the macro setting. Also found the zoom and focusing controls lacking in response.

This is a fantastic digital camera. It has lots of different modes to suit different environments, is easy to use and has an excellent 12 x optical zoom which is great for far away objects or using macro mode is great for detailed pictures of flowers. This is a really great camera.

Ill get to the point, this is a superb camera!! stunning crisp images are achieved with great ease. after 30 years of using hideously expensive 35mm prime lenses, i found i could surpass even my finest quality prints with this remarkable device. there are enough modes to satify all but the most demanding professional and its simple enough for a child to use in its "simple mode". All in all its something of a bargain, although its worth mentioning that a 7.2 Mp model is just out., so there may be further discounts available on this one. highly recomended.
Great camera.......2007-03-22
Just purchased this camera 2 weeks ago after reading the reviews, the camera is easy to use and the picture quality is great.Battery life seems endless even after taking over 200 photos the indicator only went down by one quarter.The optical image stabilizer works well even when taking hand held photos at maximum zoom. I am using a SanDisk Extreme III 1gb SD card also puchased through Amazon with the camera,the processing of the photos seems instant and will hold well over 300 shots. My only quibble is that no case comes with the camera. It has taken longer to find a case than choose the camera.

well. To start with I had a 10MP camera I don't know which company manufactured it, it says 10MP but the picture quality was horrible. after very long search I decided to buy Panasonic DMC-FZ7. I think that was my best decision i have ever made, this camera is excellent several anyway, the picture quality is sharp,the good thing about it, it has options for new users for professionals and People who knows how to use but not very well. so you can never go wrong. it's about 2 months i am playing with this camera every day I am learning new thing about it. Thanks for Panasonic for this peace of kit. regards
