Basic and Brialliant.......2008-01-02
Firstly I have had this camera for over a year, I got a good deal on mine (not from amazon though) - for £100 I got the camera, a case, rechargable batteries and charger. So not bad at all.
I would agree with the last comment, buy a good strong brand of rechargable batteries because normal ones won't even get mine started, but once you've got some it will last you for a long time.
Now for those people who say the camera is basic, yeah it is. But is that such a bad thing... it makes it easy t use. The majority of people who are looking to buy a digital camera tend not to be professionally photographers and have little knowledge in terms of digital cameras and how they work. So we want a basic working camera for people like myself who have never used one before - this was and still is my first ever digital camera.
The quality of the pictures is amazing, it is a little sensitive to light and some pictures can come out fuzzy if the camera is moving whilst taking the photo or the thing you are taking a photo of is moving - but 9/10 times it takes brilliant photos and has an excellent video quality too.
It has many different settings on a little dial thing on the top of the camera - I must confess that after all this time I still do not know what they are all for, but there is a setting where you can take sepia, black and white photos etc.
This camera has served me faithfully all this time and still is - I couldn't have asked for a better camera.
The only reason that I have given it 4* is because of the battery issue previously mentioned, but like I said, once you've found yourself a good strong set of rechargable batteries then there is no problem and is then worthy of 5*
(if I'm honest it is abit pricey on here so look elsewhere for better deals!!)
It's OK, and simple.......2007-07-22
A good camera, to say simpy, and I used rechargable batteries instead of duracell, which i would reccomend, cos the camera eats up duracell and other non chargable batteries real quick, whereas the ones I use now last ages. The picture went blurry after a year, but I heard there may have been a faulty batch.
A great first camera.......2007-05-30
Granted, due to all these advancements in technology today this camera may seem like a step backwards, but after 2 years service the quality and ease of use of this camera is still as sharp and wonderful as ever. It's suffered a fair few bumps along the way but I can honestly say I've never had any real problems.
The quality of the macro zoom is phenomenal and never ceases to amaze, taking beautiful sharp pictures full of colour from a few cm's distance, to large panoramic shots it's a great way to capture any moment.
My only qualms which have caused me to finally replace this model is the shutter lag, which is massively frustrating when trying to capture something quickly (many missed moments unfortunately) and the flash load time, which again is a very long wait. Also when exposed to a very contrasted environment of bright light and shadows the quality of the photos leave a lot to be desired; producing a very grainy image.
I have learnt a lot about photography with the Pentax, and for holiday snaps it's perfect (it's small size makes it a back pocket fixture) however if you're looking for a camera to take out with you in the evening, take it from a student; the chances of it loading in time to capture your drunken mate dancing on top of a car bonnet at night is unlikely to happen!
Excellent for the price.......2006-05-25
I bought this camera a while ago when it was just under £100, it took a while to get used to, but takes excellent shots if you remember that low light means camera shake! no problems with blur as other users have experienced, maybe there was a duff batch. I bought it so I could stick it in my pocket all the time, something I can't do with the Nikon! I am really pleased with it.
very disappointed.......2006-02-13
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this one. my camera had a problem with half of the photo being blury and half not. After I had received the camera the first and then the second time from Pentax, a total of 7 weeks later, it still takes blury pics, only now the whole pic is blury. I had a cheap 3MP Sony that delivered a much better pic than this dog.

Try before you buy.......2006-03-18
I bought this based on the reviews on the web and that it apparently achieved a high rating from What HiFi. Unfortunately on actual hearing I'm less than impressed. To my ears the MBass is pretty feeble, reaching a warm mid-range at most and the overall sound can be quite harsh, - not conducive to extended listening. I have tried this player with a few different headphones on all available sound settings with no real improvement. It does come with some nice features but then so do many others. After trying a friend's Creative 'Zen' Nano Plus I've actually bought one for myself as a replacement. The sound quality is far better and it has just as many features and a decent FM radio as well. The MoS model has been relegated to memory stick. My advice is to audition if possible before you buy.
Review of Ministry of Sound Stix Pro.......2005-11-21
This is a fantastic MP3 player!
I love it, easy to use and a great christmas present! Excellent value for money and easy to use, what more can you ask for!!
Just what I needed !.......2005-09-22
This is my first mp3 player, & I've found it very easy to understand & get using. You just plug it into a computer via the usb connector, & then you can just drag & drop, or transfer files from windows media player, especially good if you don't have or want internet connection, or want the complications of companies self promoting firmware (like Phillips rubbish that I have for my new shoqbox !)The sound is really good, as long as you get some better earphones of course. I've downloaded about 70 tracks, including some of my old vinyl records which can be recorded directly from the line out of my stereo, (you might need a new connector, although you have to upload to a computer to actually name the track & artist then return them to the MP3)
I am very happy with this MP3 player. Ministry of sound seem to understand what music fans want.
