Great camera - wrong memory stick.......2006-10-03
Great camera!
BUT... don't listen to the technical data for the memory stick [....] You need a Memory Stick Duo, and NOT the Memory Stick Pro as advertised
Disappointing.......2006-07-19
I've been a big fan of Sony digital cameras since I bought my first DSC P72. However, the P72 has, after three years, run out of steam. So prior to my recent holiday in Italy I took the plunge and invested in a DSC-T5 because it had good reviews and it was slim enough for me to carry around everyday.
The experience of actually using the camera is great. Like the P72 it is incredibly simple to use, feels well built with a straight forward physical and electronic interface. The screen is also a great asset being a very generous size. It was on the screen that I frst noticed that photos didn't appear quite as sharp as I'd expected.
Once I'd returned home and downloaded my pictures to my Mac (a very easy and straight forward process) I was disappointed to find that the sharpness of the images was no where near as good as my 3 megapixel P72. It's all very well having an extra 2 megapixels to zoom into but if the image is blurred, as they invaribly are with this camera, it rather defeats the point of the extra pixels. Now I accept that I may not be a great photographer, but my shots looked respectable with the P72. Subsequent tests with the T5 using different settings have failed to produce satisfactory results.
I find the lens of this camera to be of similar quality to the camera in my girlfriends Sony Ericson K750 mobile phone. Not what I would expect from Sony. I can't really recommend this camera. It seems that you sacrifice a lot of quality when you drop down to this camera size.
go on- treat yourself!.......2005-12-21
If you ever lugged a 35mm with all the trimmings around with you, then try this: ultra light, ultra thin and is capable of everything you could wish for in a snapshot and more. My third digital camera to date and well worth every penny spent. The menues are easy to navigate, all the features work well, you can really play around. You'll be amazed at the results. 21st century. Hassle free fun.

Fantastic!.......2008-01-08
I love this player. It's easy to use, and sounds and looks great!
Another plus is the long battery life - comfortably 30 hrs plus.
However I've docked this one star for the terrible Connect Player software. This is difficult to use and crashes rather a lot. It also seemed to slow down my PC in general. Sort it out Sony!
Software becomes unuseable.......2007-08-01
I have the NW-608 and I have been using the supplied Connect player. I received a notice to inform me that I need to use Sonicstage CP instead so I downloaded it and the installation failed with the following message
'Installation process for Sonic Stage 4.3 has been terminated(2051,20697)'
I then tried to use Connect and it failed with the message:
'The OpenMG component used by CONNECT player failed to start '
So the installation has broken the original software.
I researched Sony Software problems on the web and was alarmed at the number of people who now cannot use their Sony Walkman's because of software problems. Sony do not provide older versions of their software, so you cannot go back. Most worrying is that Sony do not seem to care. I assume they want you to ditch the product and buy a new one. .
Lovely Sony.......2006-10-21
This is a very solid and stylish piece of hardware. If you like the Sony brand, then you won't be put off by the price. The software is OK - I've had no real trouble - it's just not at all slick, but it does the job.
The player has very good shuffle modes and the battery life is as good as promised. Only annoyance with the player is that the display is difficult to read in sunny conditions. You also get a little extension lead for the headphones, thus allowing you to keep the player in a breast pocket (using only the short lead) or down in a trouser pocket (utilising the longer lead).
Lovely machine shame about the software.......2006-06-03
Very pleased with the quality of the sound from the saved files and from the FM radio, also the looks of the machine itself. I read many reviews before purchasing and was warned about the software to transfer files so went in with open eyes. How can such a well know make as Sony get away with providing such awful software that must be used to enable the machine to work effectively?
I use the machine to read CD books whilst walking to work and it takes several hours to transfer one book via the software.
NWA608 Review.......2006-05-31
The best sound quality Ive ever heard on an MP3 player!Absolutely incredible. Everyone I have shown it to has loved it just because of its sound quality. Not to mention its 2GB Flash memory, FM Tuner, style and lightweight! I swapped my NW A1000 for this!
