Beware of lacking features from Canon!.......2008-01-10
Canon doesnt have Battery indicator, I checked from Canon executives myself. Also, its rubbish to find that snaps cant be uploaded in digicam without using Canon software. I copied snaps onto SD card directly after taking it out from digicam but to surprise found that Canon doesnt detects even a single snap! In other brands of digicams, snaps can be freely dragged and dropped onto digicam from PC without any software. Also, I copied a snap taken from same Canon digicam to PC and renamed it , and then tried to upload snap to same digicam, but it gave error: 'This image has not been taken from Canon camera or has been edited, hence cant copy to camera'!!!!! How stupid!

As a former pro used to 'real' cameras I'm delighted with the Ixus 950 IS.
Being frustrated by the nuisance of an SLR with its bulk and weight for casual shots the convenience and quality of this solid little gem has been a revelation. I've yet to find anything to let me down. Nothing has so far frustrated me after a couple of weeks use in a variety of situations and the bargain price Amazon offered was the trigger to buying + their usual efficiency after a late Xmas treat decision.
Perhaps a hasty rating but I doubt it.

I've been interested in photography for some time and have used an old 'canon digital ixus 400 (3,2MP)' for all my pictures taken whilst fishing, it was a great camera so i decided that i would treat myself and my wife to an early christmas present and bought the CANON DIGITAL iXUS 950IS!
Without a doubt it has changed the way i now use camera's, settings for shooting via SCN (scene) can take some time to get used to, a great large LCD screen viewer with a 'joystick' type function/settings key that makes it easy to adjust all shot settings via the screen!
Quite hard to use in begining....but well worth it!!

great little camera.......2007-12-17
Having read the good reviews, i decided to get it and i can say that i love this camera. It is ideal for inexperienced photographers (like myself) and the manuel is very easy to understand. However, the only downside is that you should purchase a camera case and a 1gb or gb memory card. The camera is supplied with a 32mb card which only lets you take 11 pictures!!!
Overall, this camera is great and a good price!! I would recommend this camera to everyone!!!

Despite the 'no battery warning' review on Amazon bought this as I own other Canon products and have always found them to be of very good quality. It takes beautiful pictures, very quickly - my Nikon Coolpix had to 'think about it' before it did, especially with the flash.
I agree about the ridiculous size of the supplied SD card but a high speed 2Gb card is not a lot to add on top of Amazon's great price - ditto a second battery. Incidentally, the camera does have a low battery warning - a small squarish icon at the top right of the screen - easy to overlook though.
The camera is robust, I wouldn't suggest you try this, but it survived a fall from my husband's shirt pocket with just a small dent.
Used it mostly on holiday so haven't really explored the many possibilities, but the panorama feature was very handy and easy to use.
I'm so pleased with it I am buying one for my son for Christmas.

BRILLIANT i can use this to adapt my ps2 to my computer lcd screen if i get a female to female scart socket. then i will need sound il need to unplug the sound part of the scart (the red and yelow ones) and into some speakers.
im not sure if this works but im gonna get it and if it works then i will tell you (fingers crossed)
