Pretty good, but expected better.......2006-12-01
Had one of these for around 3 weeks and pretty happy with it - bought it to play WMAs and was seduced by the fancy OLED display.
Plus points:
Nice sound, pretty display, reasonably easy to control, rotary volume control, quick start-up and very good FM radio.
Negative points:
Random feature is almost not (ie) with all tracks on the same folder level, the tracks seem to play in sequential order with the occasional jump several tracks ahead. It then seems to go back and play the same tracks over again.
Doesn't read the m3u playlist file, so the tracks are played in alphanumeric order (ie) in the same order as written to the disk. To achieve playback in playlist order, you've got to write the tracks in individual folders reflecting album or artist etc.
Missing a USB port, so I can't use the head unit to control my Rio Carbon player (a minor niggle, 'cos I knew it didn't have this when bought).
Perceptable gaps between tracks - these aren't too bad (much less than half a second) but it's a shame they're there, all the same.
Overall, I'm pleased with the unit, but can't help feeling I might have done better buying a Kenwood or JVC. I'm going to try resetting it to see if the random function recovers.
Fantastic and easy to use.......2006-07-25
Bought this to replace my old Sony head unit. Can connect my i-pod, SONY CONNECT player, in fact anything via auxillary lead. Can also independently control the sub woofer. Sounds like I have new speakers. No complaints - great value for money. Has a cool collection of displays too!
