Just bought these for my ipod off of amazon. To find they come with the jack useful for guitar amps etc just made them better. They fact that the right headphone can be twisted "dj style" is also very useful when attempting to have a conversation with someone. I would very much recommend these to anyone looking for a high quality sound with their mp3 player or ipod . Only possible niggle may be for people with glasses as they fit very snuggly.

WOW, quality, fit, sound, amazing.......2007-10-29

I was bought these headphones and on first impression, i wasn't too impressed, they looked too small and tight, so unlike my other headphones they stayed on the side. I was bought these because my £40 sony headphones were on the way out and someone recommended these. So after being on the shelf for a few wks my sony's gave up after nearly 2 and a half yrs. So to the actual review. These headphones fit PERFECTLY they seem tight until i actually put them on they have a really nice snug fit this helps filter out ambient noise which it does fantastically, it blocks out all ambient conversation around me. At work i can wear these and filter out all background noise. After this amazing feel i wasn't sure how they would sound, but was once again amazingly surprised. Amazing sound quality definetely as good as my sony's if not better. but the more i listen the better they sound. I've now being using them for... 7 months and they are still fantastic I use they as normal headphones and for monitoring sound with a video camera and in a studio. They are a fantastic pair of heaphones and i would recommend to anyone especially for the price. They are definetely a 100 out of 100 product. Oh and before i forget they come with a really nice black carry case/bag, which is really nice so the cable doesnt get damaged.

I just got a set of these headphones to replace my last pair and so far I'm more than happy with the results. Unlike my last pair, these Sennheisers really keep the sound in so no more complaints of music leakage from my office mates! I was able to turn up way loud without anyone hearing anything.

It's worth remembering that these are not audiophile headphones, which is to say that they don't have the best dynamic range or the rich treble and bass of some headphones. What they do have is a great reference sound with excellent clarity and separation, and a bit of mid-range bias, which will be fine once your ears get used to them.

Comfort is subjective. Personally I like the way they clamp strongly onto my ears but it does make them feel less lightweight than they really are. Build quality is great, they seem very robust, with a good long cable, plus they come with a storage bag. Overall I can't imagine getting better sound quality or value for the money.

Loud and Live but no great emphasis on bass .......2007-06-07

These headphones are like monitor headphones that can define music as well as other applications in greater detail. If you listen to Hip/hop, dance, or even rock you would find that there isn't really much of a crispy treble or a pounding bass however the overall sound it so powerful which is why it is suitable to most types of music, gaming and specially movies for the fact. Believe me when I say it gives a very natural sound which is good because it makes your ears feel like they are right next to the vocalist. The deep end bass is present and you will notice it in certain pieces but it is very tender and feels like it has been toned down!(With an EQ that can be fixed) The wire is pretty long, build quality is excellent compared to anything in this price range, with gold plated jack and it can get so loud people around you will notice what your listening to. The cushions do block out a proportional amount of noise but at the same time squeezes your head like a clamp. You definitely should go for this it is worth the price. Refer to the Sennheiser website to find the headphone catalogue which will help you select the right headphone. Sound clarity is its major plus point, watching movies with this feels like your in the theater which is why it is fantastic in that area. With these headphone you would need a stereo system in your house!

a step up.......2007-02-20

Always rate Sennheiser kit and my PX100s are the best most robust portable headphones I have owned.

These HD205s are a step up from those with a nice sound stage, good bass and a clear sound. Better separation than the PX100s better overall sound.

But, they are not as comfortable and on my largish male head they are a bit tight. They seem to fit my daughters head better and she immediately commented on the good sound quality. Amazon are £[...] cheaper than the high street too.
