The Kodak V1253 camera offer 12 Megapixels resolution and is capable of shooting pictures at up to 4,000x3000 pixels. And it is able to shoot video at up to 720p resolution; high definition is the key feature. The back of the camera shows a large LCD 16:9 high resolution indoor/outdoor 3.1-inch widescreen color display offering good brightness and clarity, even in direct sunlight. The new Kodak V1253 camera incorporates the Kodak Color Science Chip which has to guarantee bright and live like colours. The Schneider-Kreuznach optical zoom lens (35 mm equivalent: 37?111 mm) lets the photographer close to the subject and the 5x digital zoom enlarges the picture even more. Even face detection is on board of the Kodak EasyShare V1253 digital compact camera. This feature detects faces and automatically adjusts camera settings like focus and metering. It seems that the new Kodak EasyShare V1253 lacks optical stabilization and is only offering digital image stabilization. Additionally the Kodak EasyShare V1253 provides also high ISO settings up to 3200 ISO. Officially to be able to capture details in low light conditions, but marketing will be the main reason to integrate such a non-usable feature into a compact camera. Furthermore the camera features multiple scene modes such as children, portrait, snow and panorama stich. This last feature is very nice to use in practice, however a 37mm ?wide? angle lens is not that interesting for panorama landscape photography.

Fairly effective, but not great........2007-09-28

These are pretty effective at low frequency noise, but unless the whole environment is quite noisy then they do have a noticeable background hiss when the noise cancelling is switched on, which I find annoying. On the other hand they are quite light and comfortable, so make reasonable everyday headphones with the noise cancelling off.

Buyer Beware.......2007-08-16

I purchased these for listening to classical music during the walk to work so dealing with traffic noise was a major factor. Good and bad news on this front. The good news is that traffic noise is much reduced. The bad news is that this comes from these phones ability to magnify the lightest of summer breezes into a rip-roaring, state of Florida flattening hurricane howling in your ears.

If you've ever wondered how the Berlin Philharmonic would sound if they were playing Ride of the Valkeries while Miami is being flattened all around them by Hurricane Harriet then reach for your wallet now. Otherwise ...

Maybe they'll work better in a windless environment but these are essentially useless outdoors.

Bring The Noise !.......2007-07-19

1. Generally, these headphones are very well made, attractive design, the usual Sony quality.

2. The cable is quite short if you intend to use these with a home hi-fi. Looks like you get about a metre - which is fine for travelling or a portable device, I guess.

3. The noise cancelling works. In an office environment, it completely blocks out the background rumble of the air conditioning. Flick the switch, and about a second later there is silence. Doesn't work on fast changing noise though - colleagues chattering etc.

4. No battery included in the retail packaging: needs a single AAA 1.5V. You do get an adapter for use on aircraft though (double 3.5mm jack plug).

5. If I had paid High Street retail (£50) I'd be a little disappointed. But for £35 delivered, they represent pretty good value.

6. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable. I'm no audiophile, but the overall experience is good.

7. Overall: recommended.

Excellent value.......2007-06-02

These are excellent value for money, and offer great sound. The headphones take a few seconds to "kick in", and after that most background noise disappears. Its a strange sensation the first time you flick the switch, as though your ears have popped.

Sitting next to a computer, you no longer hear the fan noise, however you can still hear people talking - which is to be expected.

Your ears get very warm due to the large pads, however there is virtually no noise leakage even on high volume. They offer very good sound, with good bassey tones, and crisp vocals.

They are fairly lightweight, even with the AAA battery.

Even though they are sold as Noise Cancelling, the writing on the headphones is mis-spelt as Noise Canceling.

Overall, a great value product.

Realistic appraisal.......2007-01-04

If you want great sound, great bass without distorting boom, buy these bad boys. I cant believe the sound for the price. Fair enough you might not look too cool strolling down the town with them on but for the other applications that you buy noise cancelling for...You wont beat these for value!
