This device uses FM radio to broadcast the MP3 files from any attached USB device (pen drive, MP3 player, USB hard drive etc, SD/MMC Card.) to a preselected radio channel on your car FM radio. Simply plug into the cigarette lighter outlet, insert your USB drive, press play, and your MP3s start playing. The FM frequency is adjustable so you can select the clearest frequency within 15 channels - the small display on the device shows your selection.
This latest version now includes onboard position memory. Never again forget or have to search for the track you last played, this unit will automatically remember and start next time at the beginning of that track. Also includes a small remote control to allow ease of use whether sitting in the front or back of the vehicle. The LCD Screen Display ID3 tags (Title, Artist, track number)

Poor Indeed.......2008-01-18
I must say I am surprised at the plaudits for this item. The reason I give it only the single star, is that the damnable thing did not work. The reason for this, is that my cigarette lighter is in a 'pull out' draw, which did not provide enough space for the bulky head on this product to fit. Therefore the shaft could not be placed into the charger sufficiently to make it work. If there had been a function to use a battery instead, this problem could have been avoided.
Another gripe, not really affecting me, is the remote control. What is the point? Are you supposed to faff around, while driving, rummaging around for the slimline device to change tracks? It is preposterous and dangerous, but most of all superfluous.
So, if you have a lighter in a drawer, you will surely find it too small to insert this device, and therefore, with no power, it will not work. My car is rather advanced in years (1998 Fiesta), so perhaps more modern automobiles will have addressed the issue.

This gadget has worked flawlessly since I got it a week ago. No problem with my rear mounted aerial - the radio found the first fequency I tuned to. Sound quality is excellant through the SD reader slot. I am using a 2GB disc (which goes in upsidedown). The Line-In also worked fine, but I have not tried the USB slot.
My only gripes are minor - there is some hiss in the background on quiet parts; if you listen to very long tracks on short journeys the unit restarts from the beginning of each track whenever you turn on again - handy that it remembers the track, but can be irritating in that you never get to hear the whole of the track!
Overall, however, I give it 4+/5.

Does what it says on the tin.......2008-01-09
Firstly, I've been down this path before with an old battery Belkin 4 chan FM transmitter - which was OK in Australia, but in UK channels it sat right around Radio 2 which made it pretty useless as well as not being powerful enough to really 'lock-in' FM wise in any car Ive tried. So was a sceptic to start...
This (with postage - and go and read their blurb on postage if concerned) is going to cost you under £20. Mine arrived in 3 days. As an alternative to spending hundreds on a after-market changer or new stereo it is well worth £20
And it worked straight up, was a strong signal - on 88.5 for me which seemed quietest and I have a rear mounted antenna car... Theres a bit of hiss in quieter stuff but really for £20 you don't expect this to be an audiophile solution... I had to turn the bass down on my receiver which really surprised me... build quality also surprised me for something this cheap.
I think the key here is the fact that via the cigarette lighter socket it always has a strong power source - which doubles as the power source for whatever your playing your music from - USB, SD or stereo -in lead.
Concur with SteveEdinburgh review that now it comes with a much more functional remote as per his customer image - EQ puts the MP3 into various preset equalizer modes - JAZZ, POP, CLASSICAL etc and display does scrolling title now and shows sensible things - BIG - when you use the remote. Not that I expect to be trying to use remote/display whilst driving... for me the forward/back track buttons and play/pause on the head of the device are big, easy to find by touch and are what Ill probably use...

Improved Remote control.......2008-01-07
When my Solocar arrived it had an improved remote control with extra buttons for selecting tracks by track number (including 100+ and 200+) as well as volume, FM channel change, play/pause, previous and next track as well as "EQ mode" (whatever that is!) - see my Customer Image. Main unit is as pictured. Worked easily first time. The only criticism is that it does not handle folders which would make it easier to find tracks (as mentioned in another review). It does find files which are in folders. Good sound quality and good value even with the high "postage" charge.
No ID3.......2008-01-02
Hmmm. Mine is working fine, and I'm happy with the sound quality, but all the LCD shows is the file name, and the mangled DOS file name at that. No ID3 details at all.
It may be an issue with the ID3 version. I'll have to experiment.
