Good value&good sound - shame about the annoying plug........2007-11-30
I have just recently bought these speakers for myself and i am pleased with the sound,price and quality of them. There is only one thing that bothers me about them, the plug makes a buzzing sound when you switch it on. It doesn't effect the sound when the speakers are playing music, but when they are just on to charge the ipod, the sound is really irritating. I'm not sure if it is a fault with my speakers or if it happens with every single set. It would be interesting to hear if other sets have the same problem.

Sound is great! portability no problem, but I had a problem with the power pack supplied. The power lead has a continental European two-prong plug with a slide-on UK adapter. When I first plugged the unit in, nothing happened. By elimination I worked out that the UK adapter was faulty. I could not be bothered to return the whole unit to Amazon, so I replaced the adapter and the unit's fine now. Note that the cheaper model ( I paid £31.99) does not come with a remote control. Also, the ipod nano needs to put into the dock rather carefully, holding the unit in one hand : if you just try to push it in from above, it's fiddly and can't be done without risking damage to the ipod. That having been said, I'm very happy with this purchase.
Good for price, excellent treble and volume but..........2007-10-06
I picked this up to replace some creative travelsound 200 speakers which sounded too tinny for my liking.
As everyone else has said, the sound is spacious and the treble is very good, female vocals are very distinct. However acoustic bass sounds dreadful, of 43GBs of music I have 5GBs of Jazz and I have real difficulty listening to it on these speakers.
That said what can you expect at this price? The best speakers for the price, however if you listen to Jazz I would look eleswhere.

I just received this and have had a quick try. I am amazed by the rich sound it pumps out at surprisingly high volumes. Distortion begins only at the absolute top end of the volume setting. Looks well built. Bargain! Treat yourself.

Had these for about a year now. For the money I really don't think you can do much better. I have taken this all over the world and is smal enough to not be a problem and conveniently charges at same time so no need for a charger aswell. Sound quality is more than adequate and although could live with a bit more bass and volume, that'll cost another £40 or so. An excellent deal all round, and many of my travelling and party friends have agreed with me.

Good
-Sound quality is better than average
-Three level dimmer for display
-Clear green display (12 hour format)
-Alarm & Time setting is intuitive
-Front mounted jack to connect ipod etc
-Build quality is good, especially for the price.
Bad
-No battery backup - if the power fails you loose the time and alarm settings. This isn't an issue for me since it's in the study and I use the alarm during the day for picking kids up from school, etc but could be a major minus if you rely on the alarm function.
-VERY fiddly tuning and volume - tuning is 1:1 ratio (like a cheap pocket radio) and on the side so unless you move the unit you rely on knowing it's Radio2-Radio3-Radio4-Local etc on FM)
-Much bigger than I thought it would be - Amazon's description is accurate, I mistakenly looked at the picture and thought the CD lid would be the diameter of a CD - it's quite a bit bigger.
Overall - good value if you can live with the snags. Two alarms is handy, and it's pretty sensitive on FM - here in Hampshire I have the choice of several 'Better music from the 80's 90's and today, deep joy.....

It does the basic functionality well - clock, radio, CD player with 2 alarms. You can even play your mp3 player through it. The sound quality is OK - but obviously not hi-fi. It's most suitable for use in the bedroom. The build quailty is good, with solid simple controls.

I got this for xmas and it is GREAT!!!!!!!!! It has everything you need. Very big clock display- very easy to read. The radio quality is superb and the sound the cd player gives you is FANTASTIC. And on top of that it is cheap and has a well- known leading brand name!
