When this arrived, it was damaged in the same way as the other two reviewers have described - the plastic tip of the cigarette lighter plug had sheared off in the packaging exposing a fuse and some metal bits and bobs.
Had the other reviews been there when I ordered, I would have bought a different one! Anyway, potential buyers - avoid this item, it seems it has a design flaw and is easily broken.
(Very good service from Amazon on the refund, btw - no fuss there.)

I had the exact same experience as the other reviewer - the thing disintegrated even before I had got it working. Worse still it's put the power socket out of action. The Kensington FM Transmitter I bought from Amazon instead works a treat, but for now I'll have plug it in to the socket in the boot!

This item seemed like a great idea, and looks and feels like a quality piece of kit. It was very easy to work, and only took a couple of minutes to tune my radio in and get my MP3 player playing through the car speakers. Very impressive.
After this quick tset, my wife tried using it the next day, and after the power light came on, it immediately went out again, and on removal, there were pieces of plastic and a fuse loose inside the 12v car socket. The whole end piece had come away, revealing cheap shoddy plastic screw thread, of which most was missing. No longer having the original packing, I attempted to glue it, to no avail.
Absolute cheap rubbish, which should be avoided at all cost. Don't waste your money.
