Customer Reviews:
Price can seem pretty steep, but you get what you pay for........2007-12-05
First off these headphones only cost £69 new from Bose themselves so don't pay over the odds from marketplace sellers for them. Now to the headphones themselves. I was a music tech student so have experienced plenty of audio products, and I've been listening to portable audio using headphones for well over a decade, and even I found these to be awesome. At first I was like "yeah I can hear the music well and everything without it being tinny, but was it worth the price tag?" Then I put up the volume a bit more and played a track with wide varying sound differences (ie bass and treble) and the bass in these things is astounding. It actually sounds like a home stereo system in your ears. Every instrument is crystal clear, and the sound range is phenomenal for in ear headphones. And I've only listened to MP3s on them which is a compressed form of audio so every sound is effectively capped at a certain level, yet to experience CD quality sound. My original doubts were blown out of the water, and these are definitely worth the price tag if you plan to listen to portable audio (mp3/cd players) a lot, or if you want to listen to music or DVDs on a computer when in a room with other people and don't want to lose the sound quality by having to put in normal headphones. They easily replicate the sound from my JBL creature speakers on my computer, and those things are pretty immense too.
Exceptional, but..........2007-12-03
These earphones, are brilliant, until you place them into your ear and start listening to them. the design is very good, but the 3.5mm jack is badly designed and prone to wear. The sound itself is very good, but it sounds no different to my CX300 Senhesiser earphones, that do actually block out external noise, and you can get these for a fraction of the price. I feel as if i was blinded by the brand with these earphones, and the price is completely OTT at £69, does bose think that we are all blind? Thank god that i got mine at £45.
Exception build quality on the headphone, and very good sound quality, but the products lacks the WOW factor, and in true ernest, is not worth the money, whatsoever.
Bose what are you doing!.......2007-11-07
Recieved these earphones for £50 & thought i was getting a bargain; FAR FROM IT! The in ear design is uncomfortable and takes getting used to which shouldn't be the case, Sound quality is not what you expect, i have an Audi with a Bose system and the sound is great, earphones however are a different story, the volume is equalised so that if you are in a noisy environment the volume has to be at the highest; not what you want leading to the question why have the awkward ear design? Overall i'm not going to promote purchasing these earphones as there are plenty of other examples on the market that do a better job and give value for money. I recommend The Sennheiser CX300 they have lasted me 2 years and the quality is unbelievable (look out for fakes), may purchase CX300 again or the Shure 500, Be clever don't fall for brand reputation as these are a let down!
Best for the price!!!.......2007-10-24
These headphones are excellent. They have great sounding base and don't leak noise. I have tries many before for about £30-£40...it's worth the extra £20!!!
not bad.......2007-10-16
I got these through this morning. It was a toss between these and the Shure E3c earphones.
So far my impression is that they're ok but im not sure they're worth the money. It maybe personal preference but i find that they always feel like theyre going to fall out and would prefer ones that fit into my ear better. Ive been testing the different buds all day and cant seem to find ones i prefer.
The sound isn't as good as i hoped. Some albums i cant hear the drums all that well, and that is not the mix of the album. I've been listening to Tool. The albums are mixed to near perfection.
Treble booster is a must other wise the sound is to muddy. Even with the booster on they aren't very clear. For nearly 70 quid, they should be a lot better than high street models but im struggling to write that they are.
I have studio monitors at home so maybe i've been spoiled but even so in comparison to my Sennheiser headphones, which are older and were cheaper they dont match up.
Theyre also abit skimpy on volume, but this might be down to the ipod.
I would like to stress tho. These earphone are not rubbish. They are good. just not good enough.
I'm going to give them a few more days. As a previous reviewer said you have to get used to the sound they produce. BUT i do feel i will be getting some Shure Ec3's shortly.
I want clarity, i want to be 'wowed' by things i hadnt heard before which unfortunately these do not provide as yet. I'll put up another post in a few days.
