I bought this for my boyfriend, now I want one too!.......2008-01-02
I finally settled on buying a digital frame for my boyfriend for christmas, but I wanted a large, high quality frame as he is a bit of a technology freak with high expectations and standards!!! most places only offer the 7 or 8 inch models so finding good quality 10 inch models seems tricky.
Initially I purchased a frame with a higher resolution than the Momento on the internet, however it worked for about 5 minutes and packed up. I didn't want the hassle of internet shopping again so I went to PC World and purchased the Momento because it was the only 10 inch frame with XD card compatability. I was a little worried as I had not heard of the brand or read any reviews (not that doing that helps, given that the other brand frame I purchased received glowing reviews and it died on me!)
The first 10 inch frame I purchased had a resolution of 800x600, however the pictures on the Momento (resoulution 800 x 480) looked much sharper and clearer. The pictures are in widescreen mode and generally automatically fit to the screen without becoming distorted. A few pictures did appear with black bars down the side, but not many. The unit is sturdy and attractive and seems to be high quality. Another nice extra feature is that you get a universal plug with interchangable pins so it is perfect if you wish to use the unit abroad. The stand can be removed and re-attached to view the photos in portrait mode. The menus are fairly easy to navigate with the remote and are attractively laid out.
It is easy to connect to a wireless network and we were able to send pictures to the unit almost immediately - my boyfriend lives abroad and he loves this feature and has made me promise to keep sending photos to the unit. It is simple and free to set up a momento live account. We could not get an iPod to play thru the unit (I think it said it played mp3 files) however given it was purchased as a photo viewer i do not think this is a huge issue.
Further to the first reviewer's comments about the speed of transfer - we too found that photos did not appear immediately and do take a while to load. it took maybe 5 minutes for a memory stick loaded with about a hundred photos taken at max resolution (7mp) to appear on screen. Perhaps changing the resolution of the photos would be a possibility prior to loading them on the frame, although as the frame is not mine I have not tried this! it is the speed that kept me from giving this a 5 star rating. The box does say that the software is upgradable - maybe this would help speed things along!
In spite of this it is still a very good frame and both my boyfriend and myself were very pleased with it. Now i just have to save up to buy myself one!

I have got so much more than I expected when I bought the 10" Momento Digital Photo Frame. I did not realise friends could email pictures to my free Momento account and they would arrive minutes later on my photo frame. Amazing!!
No problems getting on my home wireless network. The photo frame found the network in seconds and after entering my BT security key I was up and running. Resolution is very, very sharp and really shows off the full range of colours from my Canon EOS400 digital camera. So much more colour than when developed at my local Jessops.
The frame takes all kinds of memory cards, USB devices and you can stream pictures from your PC using Windows Media Player 11. Really easy to do and very user friendly. Navigation on the Momento menus is done via the Momento remote control.
The picture frame is a Christmas present for my wife. I hope she is half as pleased as I am. One of the best items I have purchased.
Super pictures and easy network setup.......2007-09-01
I had no problems integrating the unit into my wlan network. The set-up was easy and just took a few minutes. Since then I have been receiving pictures directly onto the unit from friends around the world sent by email through the momentolive server. The feature set is really good, the picture quality excellent - I will purchase a second unit soon.
Unable to connect wirelessly.......2007-08-10
I have tried two of these frames now - and returned them both. I bought them specifically because of the advertised wireless connectivity. In both cases, I have found it impossible to connect to my network. A google search shows that this is a common problem. This is a shame as the feature would be really useful (I have 10,000 photos stored on my hard drives!) I tried every conceivable combination of wireless connection and security available from my router, but all to no avail. The Momento support staff were unable to solve the problem. For the 2nd frame I tried, I also used a USB stick, and while pictures will show almost immediately with only a few pictures stored, when I tried with all my 10000 photos on a 8GB USB stick, I was still waiting for the 1st picture to show after 3 hours! For me, a thumbs down.

soft leather case.......2008-01-09
Lovely case.
It fits like a glove and therefore doesn't add much bulk to the player.
The finish is very soft and tactile yet gives good protection from both knocks and accidental switching on of the player. It is a very luxurious case and I am very pleased with it.

There are a good few products out there now for protecting your Zen. Some from creative, some from others, but this one really does come up trumps. The product description is accurate - that leather really is soft, and to go with it, the inside surfaces have been strengthened and covered with an i-nique branded material. This helps to maintain shape and withstand the odd prod from a sharp object. With all the aftermarket cases available these days it's refreshing to see i-nique have sensibly shed all the attachments apart from a tiny metal clip in the corner. There is no belt loop either - at last! This keeps the thing as thin as it can possibly be. Who wears these things on their belts anyway! The area on the right edge is perfectly spaced for all your cables and getting to the buttons is as easy as if there was no case. The button latch which holds the front down works like a dream and hasn't come undone by itself once. This product is a better choice than the silicon skins because you get screen protection, and to be honest, if it's open, the likelihood of scratching is minimal. The creative case has a horrible red trim, whereas the i-nique has nice tight white stitching. Lastly, please pay that little bit extra and keep your Zen in a condition that will please its next user. You'll get your money back when you come to sell your unscratched Zen. Go on, you've already had the intelligence not to buy an ipod!
