the best.......2007-11-27
The footage shot with this camera is leagues ahead of anything else I have seen. The light floods in to the large L series lens, colour reality and automatic colour balance are stunningly accurate. Focus & zoom presets are useful for artistry. It is a VERY heavy camera and small people will need to work out to use it comfortably. In extremely low light there is a little pulsing to the luma level in sync with a lowered frame rate, when used. The second start-stop button, on the carry handle has a tendency to catch under the edges of its own recess. With the exception of these two small niggles the camera is outstanding in every respect. When watching the footage from recent holidays it does look exactly how I remember in terms of colour, detail, definition & sound quality.

Comfortable & compact with great sound.......2008-01-11
These are the white version of the black Philips SHS8000 (which I also own). They are both very comfortable and easily stay put while I dance energetically. They sound very good for such compact headphones - much better than my ipod headphones. I bought the black pair as Which? gave them the highest rating for sound of any compact plug headphones in their trial - 4/5. Which? also gave them 5/5 for preventing sound leakage (in or out). They come with 3 sizes of removable earpads which stay put but are reasonably easy to remove to change the size.
Which? gave two other earplug headphones 4/5 for sound - the Sennheiser CX 300 and the Denon AH-C350. Which? said the Sennheiser were as good as the Philips in every respect except that the Sennheiser's allowed more sound in and weren't as easy to use. Which? said the Denon's were as good as the Philips in every respect except that the Denon's were a bit better fit, but a bit less comfortable!
Don't waste money on Philips earphones.......2007-07-21
My young son saved up for these great looking earphones.
PROBLEM
They sounded great but, the lousy ear buds too easily came apart from the earphones and were lost
INSULT TO INJURY
Philips customer service were useless; completely uninterested; they don't stock repacements, "goodbye".
OUTCOME
Don't waste your money on Philips earphones.
Has potential but annoying to maintain!!!.......2007-06-27
These earphones work really well with Philips MP3 players like the GoGear 1620 and pcs. The headphones grip the ear very well and can be used for jogging or other activities but sometimes the earphone needs to be pushed into the ear because it may slip off because of earwax in the ear. This earphone delivers superb sound quality.
Its quite annoying to maintain because the rubber earphone buds go missing and its hard to find the right ones that fit this model. also you'll have to make sure no liquid spills on it because that can affect the earphone.
Tinny.......2006-12-25
I recently decided to buy some headphones more comfortable than the ones I got as standard with my MP3 player, and was beguiled by the reasonable price and the Philips label. However when I tried them I was greatly annoyed by the terrible tinny sound these headphones gave. I changed the rubber earplugs that you can alter the size of to get a better fit, and while it made a slight difference the sound still sounded like I was listening to my music from a 50's telephone. If I held the headphones so the speaker was a good 3 milimeters from my eardrum (or so it felt) then the sound quality did improve to a level approaching acceptable. However, I don't feel particularly comfortable with rubber and plastic so far inside my head - nor with either walking around holding them in this position, or the duck tape hands free set I would have to use. If you like music DO NOT BUY THESE.

compact well designed.......2008-01-08
The first thing I noticed when I unpacked it was how small and compact it was. However, despite its size the sound is good.
There are 2 things I look for in a clock radio
1) a loud piercing alarm
2) a clear time display
The radio is a bonus as I do not listen to it much. I may hear the news and one or two songs but then I get up.
Being a deep sleeper the alarm is irritating and piercing which is exactly what I need.
I have read many reviews of clock radios and one recurring complaint with some models is that the time display is either too bright or too dim. The LCD clock has 3 settings: bright, dim and off. The dim setting is too bright for me so I switch the display off, if I need to see the time the illuminating switch is the top bar and is easy to reach.
This is a compact well designed clock radio.
not bad.......2007-10-21
The sound is okay (and, while it is indeed okay, read this in terms of radio alarm clocks). The 'gentle wake' system sounds good but the reality is limited. I'd imagined waking to the gradually increasing volume of the radio but instead, it only works on the alarm, which is something of an old-school alarm clock buzzer getting slightly more frenetic. The radio presets are on the side, which is not ideal, though it depends how much you change them. You can alter the display and dim or turn off the backlight (reviewers of certain other clock radios seem to be having tape over over-bright displays). While turning the display off is useful, it's a shame there aren't more steps in the brightness cycle, so you could adjust to your own sense of how much light you'd like while sleeping. So, overall, sound isn't bad, you can see the display without it seeming like daylight. It's a neat, compact unit and seems not bad for the price. However, these surely must only be entry level criteria for a radio alarm clock, it seems like some serious evolution is required in the field.
