Two Excellent Products In One.......2007-06-26

This is a fantastic headset, don't let the price dissuade you; consider that your graphics card, sound card, hard drive, monitor, RAM and processor probably each cost more if you have a reasonable gaming machine. I'm sure you don't use an old 2gb IDE drive and stuff cardboard into your RAM slots, so you shouldn't compromise the audio quality of your sound card with bargain-basement headphones.

It should be noted that the bundled USB audio adaptor can be used with any speakers, headsets, headphones or microphones you happen to have lying around not just the Sennheiser headset. Additionally the headset can also be plugged directly into your sound card if you desire, however the USB audio adaptor lets you isolate your voice chat from your game audio (like the Xbox360 headset does) letting you hear your team more clearly. It's a great replacement for broken audio-out ports on a laptop (this must be easy to do as I've done it too) and can even be used in place of an internal sound card.

Don't try using these with an mp3 player- it's not going to have enough oomph to drive them; they are easily outclassed by the PX100, PX200 or PX250 when connected to an iPod or otherwise.

The in-line volume control isn't the best, but the in-line microphone on/off switch is handy and both of these are on a pod that can clip neatly to your clothing. Also the headset is supplied with a cord tidy that you can wrap excess headphone cord around to keep it from tangling or getting snagged.

Overall; if you're serious about gaming, audio and/or online voice communication and have £80 to spend look no further!

Very good quality, comfortable........2007-05-11

I upgraded from a cheap headset to these ones, because the phono socket on my laptop broke, and these looked like good quality headphones, with a USB soundcard built in. I don't regret it at all. They're comfortable and solidly built. The ear-cups don't completely cover my ears, which means that they're not too warm after extended wear, and yet there's also no sound leakage to the outside world. The sound quality is good, both for voice and music.

There are a few gotchas - the in-line volume control is very easy to move accidentally, and if you wish to use them with Skype, Ventrilo or similar you will have to set the input and output devices to the usb soundcard in those program's configuration. With this, though, you can have music and game sound coming out of your real speakers, and voice communication through the headset. The microphone is set so that you can only wear it on the left, too, so if that bothers you, watch out for that.

The build and sound quality on this headset really stand out, and if you're looking for a multi-purpose computer headset, you won't go wrong with this one.
