Good but not great.......2007-08-27

The document feed scanner is the main reason I bought this machine. It works reasonably well and doesn't jam very often. It can take up to 30 pages but in practice 20 is more like the limit for thicker paper. The scanner software is adequate rather than great and there are some minor annoyances such as it not keeping settings for custom paper sizes.

As a fax, it's ok. Not a function I use much.

As a copier it's a bit slow and can be heavy on the ink. Again, not something I use much.

As a printer, it's off the pace. Colour printing is reasonably quick but the colours are muddy and the definition is not brilliant. My old Deskjet 1220C can produce much better colour pictures. As a B/W printer, again, it's below average. I would not present output from this printer to a client in a report.

In summary, it's reasonably cheap for what it does but it's a better document scanner than printer. If you need print quality, look elsewhere.
