I got one for Christmas. Once I'd accepted the complicated set up procedures all was well. I was looking forwards to seeing if I could use it in the car & hear properly as it might overcome the road/car noise with less damage to my hearing and greater acuity.
Unfortunately the DAB side went wrong within days, though the FM and play back from a 1Gig card was fine. I have to say the lack of mixed play didn't bother me though switching tracks was itself rather complicated, one had to keep pressing click by click to reach the beginning of a file before being permitted to select another.
Since then for price and compactness there is nothing much out there if like me radio is a must, so I'll get another & hope this one is bug free.
A really good DAB radio.......2008-01-15
I have to say this is a good little DAB radio. DAB Reception is good (I live in London), although I couldn't comment on FM reception because I haven't used it - but then, I got it to listen to DAB not FM. Sound is good too, even if you use the headphones that came with it.
Despite what another reviewer says, the MP3 player works fine, even if limited to a 2GB card (still quite a few songs!). It does have limitations though. I had to arrange the songs as one big list, which means I cannot search songs per artist. However, if I wanted to do that, then I would use my dedicated MP3 player. I use the MP3 facility in case there is no DAB reception, like when traveling by Underground.
All in all, a very good product. Yes it has limitations, but you have to remember how much it costs.

This is a great product which I would love bar a few irritating/missing features/quirks.
Pros:
1. DAB works well except in office and near WIFI
2. FM radio good alternative though channels much reduced.
3. MP3 player good but max card size is 2 GB
4. Headphones fit well on ears and give acceptable sound.
5. Small compact and solid unit.
6. Comes with USB cable that also charges and a separate direct charger.
7. 'Power save' option that blanks screen after 5 seconds so charged battery lasts a good 6/7 hours.
Irritating cons:
1. I tried a 4 GB card does not work...so stick to 2 GB or less
2. Folder depth seems to go only to single folder but this may have been a problem with my 4 GB card.
3. No random play option on MP3.
4. External aerial via headphones.
5. FM save to presets does not work so a pain to search through FM channels. Works ok on DAB presets.
Alba PRDAB200MP3.......2007-12-29
First impressions are of a robust easy to use piece of kit; DAB reception in Norfolk is pretty good although reception does drop out now and again. Initially there were problems with the MP3 player regarding non DRM protected music, with downloaded tracks refusing to play; the way round this was to copy direct from Windows Explorer rather than via WMP; the navigation doesn't work quite as it should but it is at least playable. A 2GB card is plenty big enough for storing music. Good value for money, would be even better if the DRM issue was sorted out.
radio but no mp3 player.......2007-12-22
Purchased this item with only minimal expectations given the name and despite the positive reviews. Even my minimal expectations were not met.
Whilst the DAB and FM radios performed reasonably well (a bit too hissy and occasional broken reception), the MP3 player didnt function at all.
I purchased the additional 2Gig SD card with the hope of loading it up with plenty of music but the player refuses to recognise any of the MP3 files. The music does NOT have any DRM and plays perfectly well on all my other devices but the Alba refuses to play anything whatsoever.
Numerous messages to the suport email address and phone number have yet to receive a reply.
A very disappointing purchase, particularly as it was intended as a Christmas gift to my wife.
