Would be very nice if it would keep working.......2008-01-12
It's a nice idea , but it has no stamina. My third has just failed after 6 months, which replaced the second (a 2Gb version) that failed after 6 months that replaced the first that failed after a couple of weeks. So if you're being seduced by the style, don't do it. Get something else. I am.
Bit of a fiddle.......2007-12-11
Nice player, but a couple of problems. First, the player makes beeping noises every time you cycle through the menus and so as a result your music is constantly interrupted. Second, it's just too small. This makes it fiddly and not as attractive as it could have been if it was just a bit more... substantial! It's VERY easy to drop. What is this fascination with the tiny?!

anyone who gave this product less than four stars is wrong its fantastic, the sound quality is good, the software is good, the battery is good. mine survived the washing machine; but the battery is iffy so to speak but that is not the player's fault

I needed a player to replace a failed sony, and after a little research, (couldn't find alot about it)I chose this. It seemed to have good reviews here on amazon though, so I took a chance. Unfortunatley it was the worst decision I think I ever made. The player packed in before I even had a chance to listen to the music. I charged it up through my computer (that's the only way you can do it), transfered one song just to try it out, managed to open the music section, and all it had on the screen where the songs should be were jumbles of letters, and then the player completely froze. It was completely non responsive and it wouldn't even turn off!!! It's a good job Amazon have such good customer service so I can send this back.

Good sound, when paired with alternative earphones. I found the 'in the ear' type to be best, as it boosts all levels.
Nice looking piece of kit, but flawed in a few, annoying ways:
Despite the ability to 'drag and drop', the player still insists on organizing the tracks by artist, album etc. This means that if the title of the song or album is spelt SLIGHTLY differently, e.g. capitals or spaces, you can end up with numerous 'artists'. All the same, of course! Which then means you can't play all tracks by one artist, as they don't all appear in one folder. Rubbish.
Also, the sensitive pad is either too sensitive, or the spaces between each area are too small. You can end up going back to the main menu from where you were, all too easily. It's then a pain to get back to your 'now playing track.
ALSO! If you happen to be in a list, whilst listening to music, the volume CANNOT BE CHANGED!!! At least until you access that track again. The scroll up and down buttons being the same ones as are used for volume. Not only ferkin annoying, but slightly poor from a health point of view, if you happen to get caught out by a suddenly loud track. The only option to be yank the earphones from your ears!!! Very badly thought out.
I had a previous Samsung, much less attractive, and with poor memory, but none of these things were an issue on it. Shame to regress...
Oh, one other thing. As mentioned by another reviewer, playlists cannot be constructed on the player. They could on my old one. You should be able to go to a track, and add it to a new playlist. For specific journeys etc.
The long and short: It's O.K. But bloody annoying in parts. As with all of these things, they seem to get too clever for themselves. Simple is sometimes best!
