I bought the walkman because I wanted a quality product with a good sized screen and windows media player (WMP) software. I reasonably pleased with the quality of the device but I have some gripes. The headphones broke within a few days of use. The lead for the headphone is too short for one earpiece and therefore have to use extension which adds to the weight, probably better off buying new headphones at some stage. To use video on WMP you need to buy software which is not made clear in the literature for the machine. Also WMP 11 automatically sincs all your songs pictures etc which is annnoying if you don't want everything put onto the device, there may be a way of stopping this but not found it so far. The choice of speakers is limited compared to the ipod. I'm wondering whether I should have changed over to an ipod and itunes for the above reasons.

Unlike most people i actually found sonic stage easy to use.
i did however find it quite annoying that i could no longer use the ATRAC format. which although uses the worlds most complex system, did vastly improve the number of songs i could put onto my old MP3 player.

i am now a devoted SONY MP3 fan and will never go back to apple no matter how much my friends say they are better.

all in all i gave the MP3 player 4 stars or in sound quality and easiness to use. i would have given it 5 but was disappointed in the amount it can store.

SONY PLEASE BRING BACK THE ATRAC FORMAT BUT WITH A BETTER SYSTEM.

This is a fantastic mp3/4 player, Sound quality is excelent as is video quality. navigation is simplicity at it's best (very user friendly and easy to find your way around all the various functions) I looked at ipod's before giong for the sony & I don't regret my choice. This walkman has the quality and style you would expect from sony. Would have been great if it had come with a case, but at the price you can't have it all + this and a screen protector are cheap to add to your purchase.

Pros:

Great sound quality and headphones (Good selection of sound settings & EQ)
Great video quailty (Chrytal clear screen)
Good battery life (30hrs)
Very sleek and stylish (you just want to hold this in your hand)
Very easy to navigate (simply transfer music to with windows Media Player)

Cons:

Needs a case and screen protector.
Has no mains charger.

Overall:

By one now you won't regret it. Pros more than make up for any cons this walkman has.

A great Ipod Alternative.......2007-12-31

After having owned two ipods before, and both having MAJOR battery problems i opted to try something different. As soon as i opened the box i was amazed at how sleek the sony NWZ is. Its a beautiful gadget. I can only say good things about it. Battery life is so far Phonemenal. 30 hours on a single charge. And putting songs on is so easy. Having been a Windows media player guy the sync option is perfect. I would reccomend to anyone. Yes ipods are beautiful, but Sonys are far superiour in Useability. Only one point thats rather annoying, no mains charger supplied. Seems they took a leaf out of apples book.

First thing you notice is just how small it is! The design is nice, not anything too different, but very nice to look at and hold.The supplied headphones are great.
Video quality is astounding, but the sound quality is what sets it apart from the rest. its in a class of its own.
Also, good news for ps3 owners, as they go together perfectly. Example: import cd on to ps3, plug walkman in, then copy over. simple.
works the same for videos and pictures.
the few cons that i can muster arent too serious:

1:yes there is no radio, but for me thats not an issue.
":there's no on the fly deleting, again, not too much of an issue, as i dont really see the point.
3:no screen protector or case...dissapointing
buy now, you will not be disapointed.

p.s: buy a case or screen protector as soon as possible.
