Great headphones.......2007-12-28
Sound:
The sound is very clear and sounds great even at very high and very low volumes. Another thing i like about these headphones is that the bass is not overpowering (one problem you can get with some closed headphones). Intruments are so much clearer when I listen using these headphones.
Comfort:
Surprisingly, i find these headphones very comfy. I can wear them for hours on end without them aching my head or ears. They just mould around your ears.
Noise Reduction:
When you put these on you notice all the white noise around you highly reduced. Great for on the plane or even in the house when you just want to reduce the noise around you and chill out listening to your music.
Other:
They fold up which makes it easier to transport them in you bag etc. They also don't look too big when you're wearing them.
Overall, i'd say the headphones are worth it just for the sound quality. The noise reduction just makes them amazing.
I don't get it...........2007-11-26
There seem to be quite a few people who love these headphones, unfortunately I'm not one of them.
Yes, they are very good at blocking out noise, and yes they are quite clear. They will also go very loud. However, these headphones completely lack any punch when it comes to bass. I've tried them on several devices from hi-fi to my pc and every time I listen they sound quite weak to me. Fine if you are into classical music, but not good if you love hip-hop or dance/club music.
If you turn up the volume they will handle getting loud but any of the real bass that is in the music is not exposed. Instead your ears will start to hurt from the over emphasis of the treble and midrange.
Some people have also mentioned that these headphones are very comfortable. I tend to disagree again (I have owned other, more comfortable Sennheisers). I thought I had an average sized head but these things can tend to crush your ears a little and even the top of your head. Yes I know this helps with cutting out noise, but who wants to have their ears and top of head crushed for hours on end (which is how I use headphones).
Something else to note, these head phones come with a coiled/spring like lead which makes the real length of the lead probably only a 1 metre long. So unless your headphone socket is very close this is going to cause a problem.
I would strongly recommend you try before you buy.
The Best Heahphones You can buy........2007-11-13
I just wanted to say that whoever is in doubt rest assured these headphones will not let you down. I made a wrong decision and went and bought the HD 555 headphones(as all the reviews were good). Dont get me wrong they were good but what really let them down was the sound leaking i mean you could hear them upstairs. But the sound was great, That was until i went and bought these(as i could not take the sound leaking anymore).
Now when i first put them on i was speachless i thought there was no way as the HD 555 were more expensive. But when i put the HD 555 back on after a week or so it felt like they were not as clear and crisp as the HD 280pro were.
So i am just writing this to tell you Please dont make the mistake i made and get these instead of the HD 555's. These Heaphones are really that good and they sound great with an Ipod too.
I am looking forward to get it.......2007-10-29
I ordered this headphones recently and i am hoping to recieve them soon. I have never owned a sennheiser before. Initially, i wanted to get hd 650 or hd 595. But after reading some professional reviews i have understood that hd 650 may not be good to listen using an ipod, because ipod and some other players are too 'weak' for hd 650 and the sound is incomplete. But hd 650 is apparently "the best", or something close to "the best" - it just may need some additional amplifiers for players or something. I have also found out that hd 595 are the best for '3d' acoustic listening - which is really good - but i wanted traditional, not over complicated headphones.
My other options were sony or bose headpones - but by reading reviews i have realised that although sony (i am talking about Sony MDR-V700DJ) is REALLY good - sennheiser is still better (firstly in terms of sound quality, and secondly in terms of comfort). Bose is not bad at all - its just overpriced and seinheiser is not inferior to it in any way.
But who knows - maybe i will try hd 595 or sony mdr-v700dj in the future.
Finally, its up to you to decide which headphones suit you most.
Not for the faint hearted.......2007-03-15
I have had these for about 3 months and have clocked about 300 hours of use. they are great when you get them out of the box and they just get better as they run in.
The sound is very finely balanced, the bass is not over done but drops very low, you will hear each string on that double bass. The mids have fantastic punch and the treble will make your ears tingle.
The closed back, ear muff pads and vice like grip mean the background noise just melts away, so you don't have to max out your player! Plug them in to a dedicated headphone amp for the best sound.
Just be mindful of the volume, these will really make your ears ring if not careful.
And yes, you will look silly in public.

Does what it's meant to.......2006-09-29
This is a simple, cheap and easy-to-use radio. It doesn't have any flashy features, but that clearly isn't the aim of this model anyway.
The styling is nice; it follows the classic handheld shape/layout, but the book-like curves give it a slightly more up-to-date feel. Oddly, it's slightly wedge shaped- one side is quite thick- but it fits well in your hand.
The FM reception seems to be pretty good most of the time. I can't really judge AM (MW) because I don't use that as much, and the PC or TV normally interferes with reception; but it seems okay (as far as MW goes, anyway).
You wouldn't expect something this size to give really loud hi-fi sound, and it doesn't. Given those limitations, speech is fine, and music is listenable, although hardly outstanding. Want better/louder sound? Get a bigger radio.
Headphone output only goes to one ear with normal stereo headphones. I don't blame them for omitting FM Stereo from a cheap one-speaker radio, but mono output in both ears would be nice!
This thing seems to go *forever* on two alkaline AA batteries, which is another of its strengths. Build quality also seems to be fine.
This is a simple, unpretentious radio that does its job at a decent price.
Good radio.......2005-10-22
This is a high quality product from Sony which, as you might expect, is sturdily built and extremely durable. It's quite bulky for a personal radio, and on removing the packaging you might be surprised by how thick it is. Also, it only sends sound to the one side of the headphones, so it's not ideal for listening to music. Otherwise it's fine and cheap at the price.
