Value for Money? Not so sure...........2007-03-08
This isn't a cheap camera so, in this day and age, I think it was fair to expect a lot.
For size, ease of use and screen quality, it's hard to beat and these three strengths seduced me into upgrading my old bulkier Cybershoot.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I've been disappointed with the quality of photos. Once again, the Cybershoot series have paid far too little attention to shutter speed. The camera can take an age to snap in certain conditions and the moment can be lost resulting in some fuzzy, low-grade snaps.
Also, Sony still haven't sorted out their software so, once again, expect to use your own - iPhoto or Elements should do the job.
Great looking camera but still proceed with caution.

2 Years on and still sluggin' out them snaps..........2007-06-26
Ok, my wife and i have had this camera for nearly 2 years now, and i held off writing a review so i could give a lond term users perspective! So far this baby has been to South Africa twice, sightseeing in London, camping in wales and on many a night out and has yet to dissapoint.
I must say that after so long, what you'd expect to be outdated features of a compact camera are still its strong points: Size; Functionality; Weight; Quality (build and photo) and battery life are all still beaming reasons to purchase this little snapper instead of factors pushing you towards a T-10 or a T-30 as one would assume.
Sony has tried to mimic its 2005 success with more mega-pixels, better anti-shake, better zoom, bigger sensors etc but it has yet to create a camera that made as bigger mark on the compact Digi-cam market as the T-7 did. Lets not forget that this was the ultimate compact to own a mere year or two ago, and - unless you're a serious photo enthusiast - our needs havnt changed much since then: A4 Prints? easy; 3x zoom? more than adequate; enough features/funtions to make a memorable holiday/day trip/night out album? certainly. Its just your vanity and the gadgeteers posing club, insisting on the latest so-so 'upgrade', that stand in the way of you and perfect 5mp snaps.
Its small but impressive.......2006-08-04
I purchased this camera purely for its size. It's so small you can take it with you anywhere unlike many other bulky cameras.
I often use it for work and the magnifying glass mode is superb but that's where it all ends.
Although this camera has settings for night, snow, sports, red eye reduction etc they just don't seem to work, the flash is also weak.
If you want a fun camera that's probably one of the smallest around this is the one for you but if you're looking for the best quality snaps then look elsewhere.
I don't seem to suffer from the same battery problems as a number of the other reviewers have.
Ultra-portable, ultra-chic, ultra-hungry.......2006-06-18
The DSC-T7 is elegant and stylish. It fits unobtrusively into a suit pocket, you barely notice its presence.
The battery life is dreadful. I deep charged the battery for 6 hours before use. I took 140 shots in an afternoon, very few of them required flash. Then I attempted to transfer the contents over to my computer. Result? Dead battery and incomplete transfer.
The image quality in low light is dreadful. Auto-focus is slow and inaccurate. Even some pictures in good light come out grainy.
Then again, I'm using the camera in fully automatic mode. Perhaps I should read the manual to get the best results.
It's just that I had a Canon IXUS 400 before the Sony - and that was stunning in default mode. Low light conditions didn't upset it and the richness of tone captured with my old (unfortunately stolen, uninsured) camera was far superior to anything I've ever got on the DSC-T7.
I will dive into the manual and see if that makes a difference. Given that my DSC-T7 was a present, I think I shall stick with it and try to squeeze the best out of it.
I still love it because it's with me most of the time. Most camera get left behind - the DSC-T7 is slim and light enough to carry around wth you all the time.
what a cracking camera.......2006-02-05
This is a brilliant camera, FACT!!! Ignore all the negative reviews because they obviously are not using the camera properly. its well built, excellent picture quality and its very practical because of the size, being that size you have to sacrifice battery life, and flash. (nothing is perfect). The only disappointing thing is that it doesnt come with a carry case and for the price, u expect that to be included. In a couple of years this camera will still be top of the range, because its so slim, so its a good long term investment BUY IT
Quality design, Quality pictures.......2006-01-15
I bought this camera when it first came out, without having read any reviews, but simply on the pure beauty of the camera, and the fact that it was Sony, an electronics brand which had never let me down.
A few months later, just out of interest i looked on the internet to see what other customers thought of this camera, and i couldnt understand the number of negative reviews, because the fact is that this is an extremely good camera, which takes fantastic pictures-, but only if you use it right.
I think the people who got bad results didnt read the instruction manual, which is essential, because you must change the setting of the camera depending on what kind of setting you are shooting- for example there are settings for landscape shots, nightime, snow, dark, and macro shots, and a few others.
If you do not do this then you are naturally going to get bad results.
This is an absolutely brilliant camera, and dont let the bias reviews make you miss out- at least go and try it out in the shops if your unsure, and then you will realise what amazing moments you will capture.
