I mayn't look special from the photo but when you unpack this little beauty you can see the quality. There's no tape deck and it isn't very big - which is a good thing - but it sounds big. The bass is very deep and there is a naturalness and refinement that you just don't get in package systems or even some separate systems. Sony's digital amps certainly have come of age. I listen mainly to ATRAC3plus CDs at 64 kbs which can be made using Sonicstage CP 4.2 software (not included here but easy to google for). You can get about 20 albums on one CD and I can't fault the quality; you don't feel that you are missing anything compared to the original CD. It also plays my mp3 CDs no problem.
The AVRCP/A2DP bluetooth feature seems a gimmick but it works. The included Transmitter/Receiver can stream music wirelessly to (or) from the system via 3.5mm audio jacks - I had to try a few times to connect the Bluetooth device. Alternatively, you can plug your USB player/drive into the system itself and choose tracks on the display.
In every respect, however this system excels and in pure sound quality terms easily justifies its price tag - It plays compressed audio but doesn't sound compressed, the sound just ebbs and flows with loads of space round the instruments - a considerable achievement.
