4 out of 5 stars pretty entertaining.......2007-12-26

This is a pretty entertaining movie, as I recall, but not exactly super hilarious or super clever. At this point in his career, the Diceman had become very well known, and I get the feeling that this was somewhat of a standard movie to cash in on that notoriety. Not necessarily as funny or as shocking as some of his stand-up material, but still worth a look, partly because it's a slice of American pop culture history. 5 out of 5 stars One of the funniest movies ever made!.......2004-04-22

I've got to say it but this movie is one of the funniest movies I've everseen. Whilst derogatory towards women, children and animals, it is thisform of humour that makes the movie what it is. All tongue-in-cheek andvery witty with outstanding performances from all the cast. I'd put it inmy top 5 (along with "So I married an axe murderer"). And in case youwere wondering, I am a woman, so to the females out there, don't be turnedoff by my "derogatory" comment.

5 out of 5 stars An Adventure Unlike Any Other..........2008-01-12

This animation series will send you on a journey, from start to finish. The atmosphere is dark throughout, and holds a very distinctive mature plotline, that will grab you from the second episode, onwards. Many people are put off from the first episode, but the quality of the series gets better and better, that by episode fifteen, it is that good, you are totally engrossed by the story and the characters.

There are very few animation series out there that I can say has a great cast of characters, but this is it. Nobody is evil in this animation, everyone has their own persona that we get to like. The events that unfold during this series is very tragic, we feel for the characters, and with the characters, we set out on a journey. And that's what makes a good piece of entertainment for me; unique characters that are interesting, that we care for. My personal favourite being the psychopathic Balladbird Lee, one of the many characters who transforms throughout the series, all for good reasons. The main character starts out as empathetic to others, quiet, strong and joyful and ends up being vengeful, full of anger and guilt, depressed, nostalgic, whilst also at the same time, retaining his strength and quiet qualities that add depth to him.

Each scene in the series feels meaningful in some way, there is no wasted time, it is either character/plot development or action scenes that are really all encounters more than anything else, very intense.

This is one of the few animation series I have watched being fully satisfied with, and watched again with the same effect. I don't watch many anime series, but from what I have seen (all of the classics; Samurai X, Gundam, Patlabor: The Movie, GITS & series, Akira, Perfect Blue et al) this is still my favourite piece of animation ever. You will feel for the characters at the end of the hard, dusty road. It ends where it begins. Nobody is forgotten at the end...

I really cannot recommend this series highly enough.

5 out of 5 stars A late great effort from Flynn and a welcome addition to DVD.......2007-04-26

Errol Flynn had already hit a steep decline when Don Juan was eventually made. Origionally slated for 1939 (after the success of Robin Hood), it was held up by the war and was eventually made in 1948. By this time Flynn had been hit by a number of scandals, a life of hollywood hedonism, and a decline in his popularity at the box office due in large measure to him walking through his roles in the late 40s with and no longer caring about the scripts he was getting.

Thus it is a older, but thankfully still recognisable Flynn that was called to once again don period costumes after a break of eight or nine years where he hadn't made a single swash-buckler. And he really gives it his all. This is a first rate film, and perhaps the last great film in which he starred, and a film that occupies the rung just below his greatest films.

On this DVD the picture is pristine. Crystal clear. I would be tempted to say it is clearer now than when it first came out on the cinema screen. The colours are truely vibrant. The sound quality is also excellent.

The extras include the usual "Warners night at the movies" that, as a nice touch, includes the trailer for another Flynn film "Silver River".

But the highlight has to be the audio commentary from the films director Vincent Sherman with film historian Rudy Behlmer. Sherman shows that age hasn't affected his memory or his fondness for Flynn and although he probably only contributes about 30% of the talking his is by far the most interesting for Flynn fans.

This really is an excellent addition to the Flynn DVD collection. A first rate swashbuckler, excellent picture quality, and a nice set of well thought out extras. A must have for Flynn fans and those that love films of action/adventure.

I'm lucky enough to train with Mark in both his dojos and the DVD is great homework! It really helped me learn the basic kamae no kata and kihon happo. Well worth the money!

    5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT.......2007-10-27

A great DVD, good to see a REAL training session. I am not the type to get up and spar alone in front of the tv, but it was excellent to watch and understand what is being done and WHY.

Definate worth buying for anyone fairly new to Ninjutsu.

5 out of 5 stars Instruction at its best.......2005-11-23

As the last reviewer stated I also bought this direct due to word of mouth. Had I known Amazon sold it then I would have snapped it up.

Excellent tuition - not too basic and not too difficult to follow. I have learnt a great deal in a short amount of time using this DVD.

Overall 5 stars and well worth the purchase price.

    5 out of 5 stars Excelent DVD.......2005-11-10

I obtained this direct from the original production company at £24.99. I wish Id known it was going to be available on Amazon!!!!

I found this really useful as it presents all the techniques demonstrated by the instructor and then with the students practising them.

You can see the instructor correcting the students where they need to be improved, which i find quite unusual, but very helpful. I wish more instructional DVD's did the same. That is why we all buy them, isnt it?
