ON DEADLY GROUND - My Review.......2006-02-11
THE ACTION IS INCREDIBLE, IT IS OBVIOUSLY VERY BIG BUDGET AND THE MICHAEL CAINE DOES WELL AS THE OBSESSED VILLAIN.
THE STORY IS ORIGINAL, SO ARE THE CHARACTERS AND IT'S NOT OFTEN WE GET TO SEE STEVEN ON HORSEBACK OR WITH A MACHINE GUN. THE FILM IS VERY FORMULAIC OVERALL, IT'S STARTS WITH A BANG, ENDS WITH A BANG AND HAS THE USUAL VIOLENCE YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A SEAGAL MOVIE IN THE MIDDLE. DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE SAYS, GET THE MOVIE ON DVD AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. IF YOU IGNORE ALL OF THE SPIRITUAL CRAP AND SIT BACK AND RELAX YOU WILL BE THRILLED TO BITS WITH THE EXPLOSIONS, FIGHTS, SHOOT-OUTS AND INSANE DIALOGUE. THANK YOU FOR READING MY REVIEW.
As always a good perfomance from Steven.......2001-09-26

The broadcast series Moon Phase (2004) combines elements from several anime genres: magical girl, vampire, supernatural, and kawaii (ultra cute). Kouhei is a teenage photographer with a talent for shooting the supernatural. At a haunted castle in Germany, he meets Hazuki, an adorable girl who is actually a powerful vampire. Kouhei is so "spiritually retarded" that charms, spells, and vampire bites have no effect on him. With some help from his exorcist cousin Seiji, he frees Hazuki from the castle's spell. Hoping to find her long-lost mother, Hazuki flies to Japan and moves in with Kouhei, Seiji, and their sorcerer-grandfather. It's a familiar anime set-up: a household that brings together a dense but good-hearted guy with a pretty but powerful girl. Although Kouhei is sympathetic enough, Hazuki isn't very likeable. She fusses, throws tantrums, and keeps trying to enslave Kouhei. The results are decidedly odd, and less than the sum of the parts. The Starter Set comes with a box and a special album for Moon Phase trading cards. (Rated 13 and older: violence, brief nudity, toilet humour) --Charles SolomonDVD:
