Customer Reviews:
infantile inappropriate rubbish.......2007-08-24
I bought this for my 3year old twins as I thought it would be a good way to introduce them to the world of Mickey etc. We have watched it once and they were indifferent and I hated it with a passion. As we are used to Winnie the Pooh and Cbeebies we all found this completely dumb and pointless in comparison. There was hardly any plot to the stories, just lots of slapstick, fighting and dancing, which even the children thought was silly.
Apart from the fact that it was infantile and boring, it introduced far too many images and concepts which I think are not really appropriate for litle ones eg capturing and killing a giant, smoking, striking matches, chasing ghosts, guns, fighting with swords.......... Are these really images that you want your toddler to watch? I certainly don't.
I also thought the sound quality was very poor so we had to watch it turned up very high to hear the dialogue, despite awful loud music throughout.
This will not be viewed again in this house and we will steer clear from Mickey for as long as possible.
A great introduction to Mickey.......2006-06-01

I'm actually not a huge Mickey fan, but bought this for my 2 1/2 year old who has recently fallen in love with Mickey Mouse. Everybody Loves Mickey is a great introduction to the world of Mickey and his pals. There's just enough to keep a little one entertained without going too long (this video is 58 min). You can buy Walt Disney Treasures vol 1 and 2 which are 2 discs each, but I thought that might be a little much for a 2 year old, so I decided to stick with this simple series. My daughter's only had the disc for a few hours, but already loves it. I'll probably end up buying the others in the series.
I was a little concerned because the cartoons are definitely classic Disney - very hand drawn looking and not as clean and fresh as modern style animation, but that didn't seem to bother her. I think it comes down to the stories, which of course will always be good and fun to watch. If you want another great Disney mix, try Mickey's Magical Christmas, Snowed in at the House of Mouse. That's another great intro to the world of Mickey and his friends. Incidentally, eventhough this disc is titled Everybody Loves Mickey, it's full of his friends too, so it's not just Mickey.
