Makaton.......2008-01-29
Uses Makaton signs clearly and consisely which as a mother to a down syndrome child is an excellent additional learning tool. Becky already uses Makaton sign language and has done so since she was 12 months old, we have no tantrums or frustration as she can tell me what she wants to do, eat, drink etc. Wish I'd found it 10 years ago with my first. Ideal dvd to show to older children for them to use the signs to communicate with their younger siblings too.
My Dog can Sign Better!.......2008-01-03
Hello all Hearing mothers out there....This is absolutely AWFUL!! it gives British Sign Language a very bad name and image. The signs in this are rubbish! My little boy is 2 and he could sign better than the woman when he was one year old! I think my dog even signs better than her! If you want to learn proper sign language, go to BSL classes. This is so stupid and a total rip off!
It is really that bad.....a disgrace to BSL.
Great but unforgivably short!.......2007-12-05
This is a great dvd - my 6 month old daughter watches it with interest and the songs are all entertaining.
However it is only 30 minutes long which is long enough for a little one to watch but hardly value for money! Not enough different signs are used as well which makes it quite frustrating if you can't get to a class and are using the dvd to learn from!
It should be 1 and a half to 2 hours long for the price and split into 30 minute segments.
I just feel that the price really does not reflect the content - way too expensive for what is actually in it.
excellent.......2007-09-01
My daughter ages 13 months wouldn't watch any tv, she just had no interest until I bought this dvd, we both love it and after only about 3 weeks she can now ask for more, drink, eat and is obsessed by ducks!! I can't recommend it enough.

This really is baby signing the fun way!.......2007-05-08
I was sceptical when I first heard about baby signing but the benefits sounded so good I had to try it............. so I did some research and bought this DVD.
I was hooked from the first viewing - and I found it such an easy way to learn signs! The DVD has a really useful leaflet to help you understand the principles of baby signing and get started straight away.
The dvd shows you about 100 signs including aninmal and vehicle signs that interested and motivated my son to start signing back to me very quickly. Other baby signing programmes suggest sticking to the basics until your baby signs back but I think you would be in for a long wait, it is much better to show them signs for things they get excited over and want to 'tell' you about!
My son and I watched the DVD together every day for a few weeks and never got fed up with it. It has been a very good investment (and we have the new stage 2 DVD available from Sing and Sign now as well).
In fact I loved the DVD so much that I found myself driving half an hour each way to attend classes every week. They were definitely the best baby classes I have ever been to, and after having three sons and going to numerous activities that is saying something!
Great fun and babies love it.......2007-05-04
WHat a great DVD! It is the only thing my twins will watch without losing concentration. They love it and ask for it all the time. The songs are lovely and really easy to learn and it is so inspiring to see babies actually signing on the telly. The format is good with scene changes often enough to keep baby's interest and it is not too long so I don't feel guilty if I slip off and get on with some housework while it's on!
We love it so much I became a teacher!.......2007-03-19
We really wanted to sign with our daughter and tried pretty much everything out there, which was slow going and rather frustrating. Then a friend recommended Sing & Sign, so we got the DVD since there were no classes locally. And what a revelation - signing is FUN! Sing & Sign links the teaching of signing to songs, rhymes and games, making it easy to pick up and such a laugh. You almost don't realise you're learning! Our daughter has a huge signing vocabulary now at 16mo and her speech is coming on a storm. Best of all, we can get to the source of any frustration very quickly, without tears or tantrums (eg "teddy" is "under" the sofa or "teeth hurt", "medicine" "please"); we can also see what's going on in her mind (she loves to tell us the "birds" are "all gone") The DVD progresses through the basic signs (more, eat, and so on), with plenty of secondary signs like animals and transport for you to pick up depending on your baby's interests. What's more, it's filmed in a class and out and about, so there are plenty of babies signing and having fun, which your baby will love - it's not a dry dull dictionary like a lot of baby sign products out there. The whole family can use it with ease. You carry the dictionary around in your head because you know the songs, so the signs become second nature and you use them all the time. Miles easier than referring to a book or skipping to the right letter on a dictionary DVD!
Definitely don't waste your money on other signing guides - get Sing & Sign right from the beginning. The DVD is fab to learn from if you don't have classes locally or can't get to them, and a great reference and back-up between lessons if you do. I can't wait to share it with other parents!
Sing and sign.......2006-03-24
I have 3 children 2 years 3 years and 5 years and all 3 enjoy impressing their peers with their signing ability and we have only ever watched this DVD to learn sign language. My first impression was; what not that good, but it has turned out to be one of the best value for money DVD's I have bought. You need to watch it repeatedly to pick up the signs in the same way you learn anything new. We have even learned some new songs too. It makes for a good sing along DVD as she sings what appear to me to be made up songs about all the things children do in every day life along with some familiar favourites too. All good fun. But as with any learning it takes time. But this is a way to make the learning fun for all who join in.
Not very helpful for beginners and very short!.......2006-03-02
I was interested in learning baby signing to use with my 7 month old son, but as there were no classes near us I thought this DVD would be a good substitute.
However, unless you've actually been to a Sing & Sign class before, you may find this DVD a bit confusing.
The lady recommends 4 or 5 signs that are the best ones to begin with, but she doesn't demonstrate them per se. Instead you have to watch a whole series of rather confusing songs and try and pick out the signs from them. As I said, unless you've actually been to a class it can be confusing to a first timer!
I also think that it is a bit much for a DVD that lasts little over half an hour.
This DVD could have been so much better - an introduction demonstrating the most common signs on their own before launching into the songs would have been great. I'm finding myself a little disappointed with this.
