good work baby einstein.......2005-01-12
I brought this dvd for my one year old daughter who did not give it a second glance, but i paid good money for it so we perservered! Now she is two and it has become a firm favorite, she loves all the differrent images shown, showing all the different shapes and comparing them to things we have around the house ie oranges are circles and she loves to tell me this. I think this is a good dvd to sit down with your kids and get some interaction with them, i will certainly be buying baby einstein again!
Great entertainment.......2004-03-19
My 2 1/2 yr old daughter watches this DVD regularly and is totally spellbound by it. She particularly loves the puppet shows and giggles at them every single time. I would thoroughly recommend to others. However not all the Baby Einstein DVDs are as good. Some are more esoteric and don't have the puppet shows that give the whole thing structure.
Very disappointing.......2004-02-06
Having bought previous Baby Einstein products for my baby boy, I was eager to share this one with him, however was very disappointed. The images are colourful and the music fun but 3-D shapes are shown and called by 2-D names. As an Early years teacher and parent I found this very frustrating as it means re-teaching the correct names at a later stage. As I have experienced in the past, this is very difficult.
The whole feel of this DVD felt disjointed and rushed.
Better off to teach the children with the objects found around the home and in the local environment...and free!
Not as Good as some of the others.......2004-01-27
My 13 month old son loved Baby Mozart so we got him `Discovering Shapes'. But parents be warned: the style of this is very American with American kids doing the voice-over (EG "ladybirds" are called "bugs" etc). May seem pedantic but if I'd wanted US stuff I'd have got him watching Sesame Street (which is great, don't get me wrong). We're sticking to the music-themed Baby Einstein stuff because our son loves the movement and images on them.
Great learning tool.......2004-01-25
My daughter, who is mildly autistic, watches this and other Baby Einstein videos. She is now knows all her shapes and sometimes when she wants to ask for something and doesn't know the word she tells me the shape. This has been extroindinarly helpful in heading off her frustration about not being able to communicate her wants and needs.

A fabulous buy.......2007-01-17
My son love Lynley Dodds' books and now loves this DVD. He sits happily with the books in front of him and the DVD playing (unless he has to hide from Scarface Claw!). And I can watch it with him as I love it too. It's a charming DVD. Worth every penny.
as good as the books!.......2006-02-01
My boys are huge fans of the books, and seeing them brought to life on the television was excellent for them. Nice short stories, exactly the same as the books, so its not a DVD you need to run from beginnning to end if you don't want to.
Nice, gentle, amusing stories.
Hairy McClary DVD.......2005-08-12
My granddaughters love the Hairy McClary stories & were delighted to receive the DVD as a present. The illustrations are true to the books, & the DVD is a great introduction for younger children to these excellent stories. We hadn't realised before viewing the DVD that Hairy McClary is from New Zealand. Now we appreciate the phrase "Donaldson's Dairy" as corner shops are referred to as Dairies in NZ.
