Naturally with such rare Pokemon and items floating about its no wonder Team Rocket want in on the action. And they make their entrance in the form of agents Annie and Oakley, fashionable femme fatales with a penchant for power and priceless jewellery. Also the first time, I might add, that the series featured a Team Rocket duo with two women.
A dark scheme unfolds unbeknownst to Ash and friends who are coincedentally messing around Alto Mare having a good time as usual. Sooner or later the paths of good and bad collide directing Ash to once again play his part in helping those in need (and running away very fast from a zombie Kabutops and Aerodactyl)
What was the most memorable difference with this particular movie was the water effects used and the precision they had been blended with the drawn animation. Other CG effects during the film such as the flying craft Annie and Oakley used were also done very well. The soundtrack had a couple of memorable pieces but nothing too stirring.
Overall, an addition to the Pokemon collection well worth seeing...even if Jessie, James and Meowth don't find themselves a particularly interesting part in it.
Just don't forget to keep your box of tissues handy.

Odd, but good........2005-03-14
One would suspect that, having made so many movies, the Pokémon writers would run out of plot. In some cases, such as that of Pokémon 3, the movies are merely adverts for new Pokémon. Moreover, every movie seems to introduce a new, legendary Pokémon, each more powerful than the last (the exception, again, being Mewtwo Returns).
However, Pokémon Heroes stands out, because it has a genuinely interesting plot. Once one decides that this *is* a commercial product (and it is, because it, too, introduces new, legendary Pokémon), one can come to appreciate the intricate details that have been put into this movie, which is actually rare for this series. The story is absorbing and, although the movie tends to slacken at times, it always manages to pick up the pace.
There are a few disappointments with Pokémon Heroes, however; once again, only Ash and Pikachu (with the obligatory token characters, of course) see any of the action, leaving a lot of the seondary characters with relatively little to do or say (Team Rocket fans will either be pleased or disappointed to know that Jessie and James appear only briefly here, replaced as the main villains by another TR pair, Annie and Oakley). Plus, some of the 'playing with Pokémon' scenes can be rather dire and overly sentimental.
If you've seen all the other Pokémon movies, the chances are you will like this; it improves upon some of its predecessors and contains some sneaky references to them, if one looks closely enough. Plus, the instrumental score is fantastic: Bianca's Theme is one not to be missed. Very atmospheric.
Yes, it's commercial, yes, it's a little childish. Yes, it's worth watching.
