MONUMENTAL.......2006-01-13
On my first visit to the US I was living at an airport where this movie was well established as cult viewing. Shortly after my arrival a few beers were distributed and out came the Fandango video for 'the newcomer'. Before half the film had run it's course I was taken in. The movie says so much on so many levels it's difficult to sum it up, on one hand a simple road movie, perhaps a tale of rebellion, another an anti-war movie, another the transistion from youth to adulthood, a love story, who knows, it's just great fun. I've not seen it for over 10 years (unable to find a region 2 version) but have great memories and many of the scenes stand in my mind as if they were my own experiences...............
A timeless piece, will make you laugh and cry. A great movie.......2006-01-08
To my knowledge this movie has only ever been shown on BBC2 three times, and I videod the 2 latter showings after watching the first viewing just at the parachute sequence. It had me laughing so much I was hooked to watching the remainder of the film. If you've ever seen the film you'll understand why I was desperate to catch the beginning of the film since it's the sum of all the parts that make this film what it is. It is a loveley piece of choas, compassion, action, humour and good solid characters that really carry this movie. It doesn't have any SGI graphics or special effects or Spielberg-like cinematography - it's better than that because it captures a moment in time beautifully. You're probably gonna love it or "just not get it", but it's worth the watch.
I've managed to convert my NTSC to PAL very easily on my Mac if anyone wants to know how to do it hust post a note here and I'll respond.

Yes, it's an 80's film... yes, it's Kevin Costener... yes, it's a road movie... but somehow this film becomes more than the sum of it's parts. I happened to catch it on TV one night and spent the next decade trying to get a copy on VHS. I also spent the next decade trying to get all the soundtrack on CD...now and again I meet someone who also remembers 'that road movie film with Kevin Costner' and it seems to have had the same effect on them.
My tuppence worth.......2005-09-25
Here in blighty this film is all but unknown, it was aired a couple of times in the late 80's - early 90's, and I all but wore out the tape I made from the broadcast.
If Costner had only ever made this and Bull Durham, he would be one of the most revered actors in the world, he's great in it.

Spongebob Review.......2007-04-18
Spongebob Squarepants is a programme based on a sponge who works in the Krusty Krab, together with his friend Squidward Tentacles (a squid). He also has a friend called Sandy Cheeks (a squirrel), his best friend Patrick Star (Star fish) and also his pet Gary (a snail). The owner of the Krusty Krabs is Eugene Krabs ( a crab also known as Mr Krabs). Mr Krabs never wants to waste a penny of his income and his greatest archenemy, Sheldon J. Plankton, wants to steal the special formula for the Krabby Paddy.
Spongebob lives in a pineapple under the sea, while Patrick Star lives under a stone. The name of the sea they live in is called the Bikini Bottoms (under the Pacific Ocean) with lots of laughing citizens enjoying themselves.
Spongebob Squarepants is a series full of adventures and action packed movements. It is amazing how well the publishing company did to create this series of Spongebob Squarepants. I strongly recommend you to watch it.
YOU MUST WATCH IT!!!
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS REVIEW.......2007-04-18
Spongebob Squarepants is a funny, yellow and wet sponge.
His four best friends are called Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, Eugene H. Krabs and Gary the snail.
He works at the crusty crabs and, as you can guess Mr. Krabs (short for Eugene H. Krabs) is the owner, who never gives but always takes too much money.
He lives in a pineapple under the sea, he has two neighbors, Patrick Star and Squidward Tentacles.
His pineapple house stands in Bikini Bottom, a happy place where you always will have fun!
It's nearly impossible to get bored!
If you do, just watch another episode, and you'll have fun again!
One more reason you should try this TV program, Spongebob Squarepants is the most famous sponge on earth.
He's even probably the only sponge known all around the world.
5 out of 17.......2006-11-01
I rented this from amazon and I think there were 17 episodes of Spongebob on disc 1 but out of those I had seen all but 5 of them, as they appear on other collections such as Tide N'Seek, Seascape Capers, Home Sweet Pineapple, etc.
If you haven't seen many or any Spongebob titles then 40 episodes on 3 discs is a good deal as there are normally only 10 a disc but if you already own some of the compiled titles then be prepared for a lot of familiar material.
