Amazon.co.uk Review
Inspired by Robert Heinlein's pulp classic and executive-produced by Paul Verhoeven, who made the big-screen version, Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles is cutting-edge TV animation that's more for grown-ups than kids. The neat equipment, combat suits and weapons are as deadly as they are cool, and even though the extreme gore and violence of the movie has been toned down, the endless threat from all manner of nasty bugs is still pretty terrifying. Five roughly 20-minute episodes are spliced together into a movie-length feature, which makes for a satisfyingly lengthy story arc instead of the more usual self-contained individual episodes. Like all good war stories, at its heart Roughnecks celebrates that Band of Brothers-style bonding in extreme circumstances, which we viewers can only experience vicariously. --Mark WalkerCustomer Reviews:
Roughnecks Continued...........2007-11-18
I wish they had finished the series.......2004-07-24
Even more unfortunately, this series of DVDs is pretty screwed up. Not only has it been released out of order, but there's an episode missing between "vol 5" and this "vol 6". I suppose that this was done to make this a 5 episode story arc like the rest of the DVDs (or, more correctly, make Vol 5 a 5 episode arc, since the missing episode fits better there), but it's a stupid decision, IMO. (As is calling these volumes 5 and 6, instead of 6 and 7, and not releasing the story arc before them. I have no idea what the people who made this series were smoking, but it must have been really strong stuff.)
Haven't seen the extras yet (two commentaries).
Roughnecks ST continues to please............2003-09-28
This Campaign is set on Earth with the Sicon forces arriving home thinking that they have destroyed the Bug Queen who was on her way to destroy Earth.
Of course the Bug Queen hasn't been destroyed and it's up to the Roughnecks and the other MI units to stop the bugs from spreading to the large cities and to try and and wipe out this latest infestation.
The troopers also have to deal with the loss of one of there own (I won't say who) and the new Infiltrator Bugs who can take the apperance of humans and are great spies.
The only downside is the ending (of lack thereoff) with the final episodes never being made.
This DVD is for all Roughneck fans.

Excellent fun!.......2004-06-09
This DVD has 3 episodes, which are all based around a theme (tidying up) but this is probably lost on the wee ones. As well as this, there is a karaoke type sing-along to a few of the songs within the episodes - this is quite good fun. The reason that I have given 4 stars rather than 5 is that I am sure they could have added a few 'extras' without too much trouble, and this would have just made the DVD better value for money.
All in all though, this is the best Bear DVD I have (out of 3) so well worth getting hold of.
