Product Description
This DVD offers Betty Parsons’ unique approach to childbirth which is legendary. She has helped over 20,000 mums, including Her majesty The Queen and two generations of The Royal Family, to relax and take each stage of pregnancy as it comes.
In this DVD Betty combines knowledge with confidence – giving tips and techniques to help throughout your pregnancy and labour.
Says Betty: ‘Having a baby doesn’t stop with having the baby, most of it starts there. The more relaxed mother has the more relaxed baby. And if you learn this positive, relaxed attitude during pregnancy it will hep you through labour and help you through life’.

A big thumbs up!!.......2007-08-27
Despite this being very dated, the information given is very valuable. The clothes and the manner maybe dated (1990)but the act of giving birth has not changed. Just treat the rest as entertainment because her knowledge actually makes a lot of sense. I have got many books and feel this information give this little bit extra. Not only are you talked through each specific birthing stage you are told what is mechanically happening to your body, how to deal with it and what you should be doing i.e to do with pain or actually pusing the baby out. It even tell syou how to push the baby out. There are no real birth shots which I think is a plus (because this process is scary enough without seeing that) It does give you a very specific idea of what and how your body is going to achieve the purpose. A wholly positive aspect which I find is difficult to find.
Very Useful.......2007-02-10
We've just watched the DVD, and we're still not parents yet...
We've got the recommended books, been to antenatal, but still wanted more. This DVD was exactly what we were looking for - practical clear techniques for breathing, relaxation and delivery - things that were not adequately covered at our local antenatal class.
It is a bit dated (1990 ish), and the sound a little muffled. The diagrams could be clearer, but they are still very helpful and are pretty well explained.
There was no real discussion on medical pain relief (epidural/gas-air, etc.) - This info is readily available in most books. You will not see a birth taking place in this DVD.
Apparently, the presenter Betty Parsons has an MBE, and has advised the Royal family, including The Queen, on birth.
The only reason I did not give this a 5/5 is because it is a bit dated and the editing is somewhat wooden. It's also fairly slow getting going.
We watched it in two parts, as the whole DVD is tough to get through in one go.
Betty's Great !!!.......2006-07-20
We found the information in the DVD to be extremely useful. The breathing and relaxation techniques were what got us through labour. While all the outfits were very floral, the information presented was invaluable.
Disappointed.......2006-04-03
Its very 1970's / 1980's and somewhat out of date so we were quite disappointed. Some of the info is useful and well explained without the use of modern day graphics and images. Do not take part in the relaxing and breathing exercises in the middle of the DVD as it makes it impossible to stay awake for the rest of it - especially if you are pregnant!
we love betty!.......2006-02-03
we got lots of videos and books - most of them alot more 'modern' and up to date than this one, but nothing was a good as betty's no-nonsense and positive approach to giving birth - treat the shoulder pads and a few anachronisms as entertaining and listen to what she actual says. highly recommended!
