Never wrote a review before on here, so here goes:
A pleasure to watch, a new inventation of He-man that goes into the origins & makes sense. The show has intrigue (just who is Teelas father?), subplots (Evil Lyns dad isn't Evil?) & story (how Skeletor Became Skeletor) & humour (how Skeletor punishes his Minions...Twobad?).
It is far much more than "lets throw in another new character so we can get kids to buy more". Teela, Adam & He-man's relationship is still like the Lois Lane/Clark/Superman relationship. The Humour is there & this sereies just gets stronger as it goes on (watch the Episode where He-man trys to stop Skeletor from resurrecting the Horde!), something for Adults (later on Zodaks brother was eaten by the Snakemen...gross).
The Evil Henchmen are just as dopey, the goodguys not as depenedant on He-Man (its nice to see heroes like Mossman holding their own). Its great to know that an 80's Cartoon can be brought back, Re-made & be this GOOD. If your an He-man fan, this is a tribute through & through, get over that Battlecat is more Animal than his early humour injuicing predeccesor & enjoy story, Action, Humour & Entertainment!

I loved this series. It really was an interesting attempt to update the He Man canon. what is interesting here is that the producers tried to create an ongoing storyline which pays off in interesting ways.
Personally I will be ordering this as soon as it comes out. Definitly worth a look.
Not He-Man.......2007-12-13
This He-Man series is from a few years ago on channel on Sky known as Toonami it has appeared on ITV also but is in no way the best.
He-Man is from the 80's many animators have tried to recreate the cult TV show on the 80's and failed.
This is the latest failure to make to series Prince Adam and the others don't look like they should Cringer Adam no longer speaks and the evil Horde is mentioned a few times.
If you want He-Man invest in the 80's season one box set or the three triple sets.
This He-Man is a real let down if you remember the 80's this will shock you if your kids ask for He-Man get the true He-Man from the 80's and tell this is He-Man not the rubbish that they have seen on TV in recent years.

He-Man on DVD!!! And, it's....Pink!!.......2004-07-04
Watching these cartoons is a real trip back to the early 80s. The animation is about average for the time, and the sound is mastered in that popular 80s "Boom-o-Vision" - does every charachter really need an echo voice?
The thing I didn't remember is how much pink and purple is in this thing. Pink sky, pink castle, pink clothes, pink, pink pink! He-man's alter ego is dressed in pastel purple tights with a pink shirt. Wow. That can really be taken the wrong way today, but I guess pink was in then, wasn't it? Still, you have to wonder what poor Eternian creature gave up fur for a purple loincloth.
The disc itself is Excellent. The animation quality wasn't the greatest when these were new, and they pretty much look and sound just like I remember. The discs have a play-all and seperate episode feature, which is good, and they even have charachter bios and a special feature.
In all, if you liked He-Man way back when, you won't be dissapointed. And seeing as how Contender Entertainment has loaded these discs with lots of extras, they get 5 stars and then some. A good purchase for your animation collection, and don't forget to check out the Dungeons&Dragons cartoon DVDs, also released (and chock full 'o goodies) by Contender.
Now, if I can just get Contender to release the old Shazam! cartoons for my boomy voice superhero collection...

How good it is to see a cartoon I watched as a kid finally on DVD. I remember watching it first time round and everyone at school wanted to be He-Man. A truly classic cartoon, and I have to admit the new series isn't a patch on the original, especially with the transformation sequence. A truly memroble series. The DVD content I think could of had a lot more put into it, but other than that a terrific DVD.

When i was younger i was a massive fan of He-Man (he says with pride..lol), I saw this DVD & had to get it for simple reminsicing reasons & it's fantastic, it brings back all the memories, the cartoon has fantastic plots & the best characters ever.. the DVD is very well presented aswell with features & great menu's & animations during the menus (see how He-Man punches the screen when you play each episode), i remember their has been a couple of remakes of the cartoon but none of them even compare to the original & to me they have just ruined a classic cartoon.. of which is the best cartoon i think ever existed (They ain't like this now) & the animation ain't bad either ... i think the programme is timeless (my little brother of 7 loves it), you'll love all the characters in this DVD (specially the baddies who are my fave (Mer-Man, Beast Man, Tri Clops etc...) it beats any cartoon of all time (apart from maybe "The Simpsons" of course) & it's just great to have this DVD for many reasons.. see people's face when they see the DVD on the shelf in your room .. it truly is a fantastic DVD.
If you loved this programme when you were younger, you'll love it now ... if you were even a little fan of it or it's new to you, you'll love it... it truly is a wicked DVD & worth every 5 stars.

I watch the new He-man series just coz theres nothing better...until i happened to see this was available. The 2 or 3 days waiting was scary for me coz i didnt want it to get here and it being like the typical chldhood memory....over-rated. BUT...when it got here, it went straight in and I said to myself id only watch 1 episode since there was only 6...sat down....3 hours later and 6 episodes on I was sooooo happy. Just that deep booming 'He-man....and the masters of the Universe' so many memories. Much better than the modern pish, back when he-man punched everything and the masters didnt show off with their weapon twirling every scene....and man-at-arms does not have a pony tail thank god!
A must have. Again, 4 stars just coz the bonus features arent that much of a bonus and did any1 read the he-man bible on their computers??? What was it again, around 60 pages of twaddle that we all saw in the pilot of the updated he-man and even they spead it over 3 episodes.
BUT even so, get it...youll never regret it, even when ppl come around and see it on the shelf, to see their faces....amazing!

mmm he-man.......2007-10-02
Did anyone else ever notice that at the end of nearly each episode (or enough to make it a trend) Skeletor would say 'Ah He-man' and run away and everyone would just let him? Say something witty and then laugh?
And there were a lot of body builer type of guys in skimpy clothes with kinda wrestler names, was it just me or did it seem just a bit homoerotic/gay?
I enjoyed it tho, i thought it was funny as hell, and the cat was my favourite, tho Shera was a bit of goody goody pain in the rear.
He-man's hair was definetly girly, I realise its meant to be a medeival page boy look, but how would a five year old know that, and he wore pink :)
Not trying to diss the big guy (or his fluffy pants) just havin a bit of fun at his expense, and thats wat He-man's about anyway having fun :)
My favourite bit was (u know it, say it with me) 'I Have The Power!'

Lets face it He-Man's of recent years has failed to create the cult following the 80's series produced.
He-man of the *0's has returned not to help flagging viewer numbers but I think anyone who tries to re-create He-Man of the 80's would need the old team back which would take years to track down plus some actor etc, many have died or moved on and up since the golden age of kids toons.
This boxset is a great small set from the best He-Man ever everyone know the story but this He-Man set many things going like the spin of She-Ra and the feature film and truck loads of action figures.
This is He-Man a third boxset is about to be relised which will take the volume up to 9 but you also may buy the entire season 1 boxset with the entire 130 episodes.
But before all that is possible this boxset is a great way to see the best from the 80's once again.
So buy this and see how the new match up.

.... perhaps better! He-man was a favourite amongst my brother, sister and I almost 20 years ago and this DVD is a fantastic souvenir of that time. I have purchased it for the kids now as they have never seen it, and the quality is perfect. The story is still great and each episode entertaining with the classic life lesson intact at the end of each episode.
Enjoying it all just as much second time round!

Great for any of those who remember this series from tv the first time around and great for those who are new to He Man. Good value dvd set. I brought this set for my son who kept all his He-Man and Masters Of The Universe toys from the 1980's. I say buy it now for yourself, you children or anyone who remembers the series on tv.

AT LAST THE COMPLETE HE-MAN SERIES ON DVD.......2006-10-06
Though this is the American region 1 release , so it won't play on most uk spec machines ( so beware before ordering ). This is finally after the half hearted Uk issues of this fantastic 1980's fantasy cartoon. Do we get the whole series issued over 4 sets of around 24 discs.He-man aka Prince Adam who lives on the planet Eternia with his father who is King of Eternia. Adam though has a secret that he is HE-MAN and he protects the planet from scheming evil Skeletor. Though HE-MAN gets help from Castle Grayskull and Man at Arms to fight the evil villian. Skeletor will stop at nothing to take control of Grayskull to get HE-MAN's powers.
This was and still is a great fun series and though cheesy in parts and sometimes overbearing in it's 'Life is sacred' message.The Special features on all four sets are extensive from commentaries to a dvd-rom storyboards to interviews with the creators. And alook into the work of the company that made this series and other classics they produced.The overall quality is first rate with an embossed outer casing to a booklet. It seems that many U.K issue releases have a lot to live up to and seem to fall way short of the American issues. The series Still stands the test of time and is far better than the third series made after that awful live action movie. Also it must be remembered that U.S imports over a certain value will be liable to a heavy VAT customs charge. It seems to vary but the item will be held until the cost is paid or returned to the seller. Also I suspect that this issue will be a rare find in not to long a time so snap it up as soon as you can !.
