WORTH EVERY PENNY.......2008-02-13
A superb collection of the early TV series and a must for anyone like me with nostalgia for the early years of children's TV.
20 very good condition full episodes on two discs of the original B&W series with Annette Mills at the piano and a neat little booklet on the history and background of Muffin and his friends, including Annette and the Hogarth Puppets creators Jan Bussell and his wife Ann Hogarth who, of course, brought life to Muffin and Co.
There are also 3 Bonus Features on Disc 2. One is of Muffin's World Tour, which IS as described a home movie and as such is quite boring (Muffin "meeting the natives" in various unexplained countries around the world) that I tired of quite quickly. A unique early colour episode of Muffin in cut-out form a la Captain Pugwash, which was certainly worth a look and finally, A REAL GEM, Muffin meets Sooty from the BBC vaults, which is absolutely superb with Harry Corbett and Sooty at their funniest!! I had forgotten just how very clever and funny Harry Corbett was and it is a shame that the BBC are reluctant to issue any of these on their own DVD, but I believe it maybe something to do with `the brand' being sold by Matthew (not quite up to his Dad's standard!) Corbett to some media conglomerate. Shame really...........................

An Enjoyable piece of Classic Kids TV!!!.......2003-03-03
This video contains some of the best episodes of the Muffin the Mule series which ran from 1946 to 1955 - well so my mum says. When I originally purchased the video I was unsure of what to expect but I found it to be great watching and even better than todays kiddy shows like Teletubbies, Tweenies, Fimbles and so on. Muffin the mule is very endearing and Annette Mills (sister of Sir John Mills and aunt of Hayley Mills) is very warm, open and friendly in her presenting style and is more than happy to spend the afternoon singing to Muffin and his friends. The video runs for approx 100 mins with 10 episodes in all. A must see for the young and young at heart - well just about anybody would find Muffin very endearing and likable :-)
A great video for all the family!.......2002-11-03
This video is great for remembering old times - I bought it for my mum and she adores it! The quality of the video is really good, and the epidsodes on the tape are "definitely the best" my mother says. It is great to know that we can now buy the old favourites, and not just vaguely remember them. Muffin is a classic puppet and Annette Mills makes a perfect warm, kind presenter of this show. Definitely one to buy!
