5 out of 5 stars Educational and good for learning the alphabet.......2007-05-06

The reason I liked this DVD for my daughter is that it has many images for each letter. The DVD shows real animals like a dog, ducks, sheep, a rhino, lion and a tiger. My daughter enjoyed the animal clips. She liked the whole dvd. The music is classical. This is an educational DVD, concentrating mainly on introducing young children to many words, spellings and objects. My daughter was engrossed in it. So we liked it!! I like it more than Baby Einstein.

4 out of 5 stars Watchable for the younger toddler. Could be improved phonetically.......2007-05-01

My two and a half year old does like this DVD but I think he will soon be growing out of these type of DVD's. It does keep his attention though perhaps not for the whole time. I like the background music and I do like that it is part graphic and part real images. He does repeat the letters so he is getting an initial understanding of the alphabet. It is probably not the most exciting DVD as unlike the puppets used in the Baby Einstein there is no humour in these. Although I do like that it is calming and the music and images are nice for my baby also. Although some of the American DVD's are dubbed in English this one is not and there are words such as Diaper etc and differences in spelling such as Airplane. I think this is a good DVD for babies and young toddler's probably under three as it doesn't cover the phonics side of learning to read that intensively. It could be improved at the end section by the words being read out phonetically rather than just read out. I have scored it as good only for the younger age group.

1 out of 5 stars Too American.......2006-11-07

The narrator's American accent is grating, as is the use of American words ('D' for 'diaper'). The DVD is also incompatible with the style of phonics currently used to teach reading in British schools, where children are first taught the sounds corresponding to each letter. This DVD teaches only the names of the letters.

Very disappointing.

4 out of 5 stars My son liked it.......2006-10-29

I bought this DVD for my three year old. He enjoyed it and wanted to watch it again. Its long, about 40-45 minutes, so it occupied him. Depending on what you are looking for, I think its a good educational DVD. It has many objects and animals. Peppy music.

5 out of 5 stars Alphabet and Phonics - Good DVD.......2006-07-02

My two year old has been watching this DVD for 2 months and not bored with it. I am happy with it. The music is soothing and my daughter likes it. Most other similiar DVDs have too much going on in them. This DVD focuses on just what I think is appropriate for 2 year olds. The DVD is calming and simple.

4 out of 5 stars Thomas is back!.......2008-01-15

I bought Thomas the Tank Engine: Series 3 on DVD to replace my worn out VHS copies of Time For Trouble, Trust Thomas & Escape. But storyteller Michael Angelis has done the same thing that he did on the DVD of Thomas & Friends: Series 4 and re-narrated the first 13 stories on the DVD release, as he obviously wasn't satisfied that he'd done a good job on the VHS releases. There are 26 stories on this disc, but despite the obvious & noticeable re-dubbing from Mr Angelis, it's still worth buying! There are some good stories like Buzz Buzz, Escape & Oliver Owns Up, to name a few!
