Teen Titans Season 1 (Brilliant... But Needs Your Help For A Region 2 Release!).......2006-08-09

This is the first time that the Teen Titans have been presented in an animated series. The team consists of Robin (the obsessing leader), Raven (the mystical Goth), Starfire (the beautiful alien), Cyborg (the robotic athletic) and Beast Boy (the shape-changing clown).

The season does a great job of introducing the Titans and their villains. The Titans meet a whole range of baddies, from the psychotic Slade to the pathetic Dr Light. The season shows the Titans as five friends and the interaction between them is one of the best aspects of the show, I mean they're teenagers (and they're actually drawn like teenagers) who live together in a tower in Jump City, without any adult supervision. How cool is that?

This boxset contains all thirteen episodes of season one in the order they were aired: Divide and Conquer (one member of the team quits... will the remaining Titans be able to cope? Also introduces Slade), Sisters (Starfire's sister comes to visit... but why?), Final Exam (our first introduction to the hive members Gizmo, Jinx and Mammoth), Forces of Nature (can Jump city survive the destructive 'fun' of these two brothers?), The Sum of His Parts (our first proper glimpse into Cyborg as a character... oh and Mumbo), Nevermore (a journey though Raven's mind), Switched (freaky friday meets the Titans), Deep Six (the Titans go underwater), Masks (who is Red X and how does he know how to take down each Titans?), Detention (aka Mad Mod, psychedelic chaos!), Car Trouble (introducing the T-Car), and the two-part grand finale Apprentice (Slade has Robin right were he wants him...)

Apart from providing all the episodes above in excellent colour quality (and without the CN or Toonami logo blocking out the top corner), the boxset contains some brilliant extras: Finding Their Voices (a look at the people who voice the Titans), Comic Creations (the best extra - it looks at the development of the animated series from the comic books), Puffy AmiYumi Featurette (Robin quizzes the pop duo on their likes and dislikes), Puffy AmiYumi Music Video (the pop duo perform the full length Teen Titans Title Song), Sneak Peak at Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Show, and Toon Topia Bonus Cartoons (The Hiros, episodes 1 and 2).

I thought this boxset was great! It's got everything you could want from a superhero show, five fantastic friends, a long line up of villains, some butt-kicking fight scenes and the on-going struggle to do the right thing.

I wrote to Warner Brothers (WB) to ask the when they plan to release it in Region 2 (in Europe's PALS format). I'm sorry to say they are not planning on releasing it in the UK at all.
