In the stop-motion animated Doggy Poo, a little dog leaves the eponymous character by the side of a road, where it remains to ponder why it exists. Over the course of several months Poo meets a leaf, a hen and a lump of soil, who assures it, "God has not created you for no reason". But the little Poo feels rejected until a dandelion sprout accepts it as fertiliser. The message, that even the humblest have a place in creation, is a worthy one, but in Doggy Poo the main character whines constantly, and the story unfolds at a leaden pace. Parents who find Doggy Poo acceptable viewing for young children--clearly the intended audience--may have to steer their kids away from the genuine article. --Charles Solomon

My girlfriend and i bought this late one night as a bit of a mad fling. It just sounded so tempting! We thought it would be better than it is, the overdubbing is terrible. But the animation is top class, with a beautiful soundtrack. If you have children, this may be for you; i can see it being very much up their street.

Before I begin I just want to make it clear that the star rating is for comedy value alone. When I spotted this little gem I couldn't believe what the subject matter was. I bought it and watched it with some of my student friends, and we were certainly entertained. Be warned, it does contain "mild peril" as the ratings system has it, and is quite sad in parts, but like all good fairytales has a happy ending. Be warned though, the "making of" feature is not what you might expect it to be considering the subject matter, consisting of a dubbed documentary showing how seriously they take this story in Korea. Perhaps not one for children but keeps drunk students entertained, even though it is badly dubbed.
