Don't believe everything you read on a box: the film is correctly presented in its cinemascope format - at least my copy was and flattering as it might be, I don't think it was made especially for me. And in a very nice copy. So I don't think that anyone who likes the film and buys it will be disappointed. As for myself, having not seen it before and having buying it solely because Barbara Stanwyck was the lead, I confess I was. Although Ms Stanwyck's performance was up to her usual high standard the rest of the film didn't do it for me - there are beautifully shot moments, there are some very good moments in the film, but it just didn't do it for me. I can recognise its value, but I cannot fall in love with it. But hey!, it might be just me.

When you wait what seems like years for a favourite Western to appear what a tragedy when it appears in such a manner as Optimum's edition of Sam Fuller's masterpiece Forty Guns.

Fuller was a master of the widescreen format but what do we get here- a 4:3 pan-and-scan outrage.

Enough to say dont waste your money on this - why should we settle for twenty guns.
