Recorded in July 2001, Tom Jones's high-voltage return to his roots in Live at Cardiff Castle, featuring more than two hours of hits spanning four decades, certainly set the grounds of Cardiff Castle--and 10,000 fans--alight. As a singer, Jones has always played a canny game. He's proved particularly adept at reinventing himself as an avuncular costar for today's young singers, bumping and grinding through hip-hop and rhythm and blues without neglecting the brassy novelty numbers which set him on the path to stardom back in the 1960s. The voice has survived the years virtually intact. Subtlety was never exactly a Tom Jones trademark and everything is attacked with the stops full out. All the hits are here: "Delilah" and "What's New Pussycat" are interspersed with "Burning Down the House" and a "Sex Bomb" which really zips along.

The hips might not be as snake-like as they once were and the pouring sweat is testimony to the effort required by gyrations which would test a much younger man. But when he sails into "The Green Green Grass of Home", it sounds like a deserved paean both to his staying power and a charisma which genuinely appeals across the generations. --Piers Ford

MR JONES ROCKS THE JOINT.......2007-05-01

WoW!!!! The Voice still has it! This concert is Fabulous! The range of songs performed are varied, ranging from his standard classics to the Reload era with a sprinkling of others thrown in for extra good measure. Tom certainly performs, and shows us why he's still one of the all time greatest, handling a range of songs from all era's masterfully. And if you think this is great, just go and see him for yourself Live in person....You'll be knocked off your feet!!
There'll never be another performer like Sir Tom x

.....and still explosive!!

This concert are really a pleasent surprise. The old hip swinger and showman are better than ever...and it`s great to enjoy just how serious he handles every song.!! No medley`s with old songs... to get to his latest material. No..no..no...he really take every song seriously...and delivers with heart and soul...and his voice are fantastic!!

All the hits....hits again...but amoung them are a minor one..."The boy from nowhere"...so beautiful sung, that even "The 3 tenor`s" could learn something about singing here!*ss*
The band, the sound and picture are outstanding. So let`s keep it simple....WAUW!!!

Fighting Fire with Fire.......2003-12-31

This is an excellent concert. Taking place in July 2001. The sun is warm and the air is clear. The concert starts with A lot of Love which is a great opener then onto Hard to Handle. This is a very good version and it is a test whether its better than Otis Readings original version. Help yourself is good. Most of the hits he does which were recorded in the sixties are very good like Deliah, She's a Lady and I'm Never Gonna Fall in Love again which is really outstanding. The concert ends with a rather revolting verson of Kiss. You should get this its better than the awful DVD of him in 1981 in his north america show.

Burning Down The House.......2003-06-29

This is an excellent DVD. Opening with A Lot Of Love which is a great starter. Then on to hard to handle which isn't that good. I thikn the highlight song of the evening was Sometimes We cry which is just lovely. "This next song was written by a good friend of mine, his name is Van Morrision" moving on after the break Mama told me not to come is good and then onto another perfect highlight Green Green Grass Of Home.

If you want to see jones in concert get this DVD. Who cares if he's older. It's got the biggest variety of music on it.

Tom Jones - What A Performance !!................2003-05-07

This DVD has captured the concert perfectly. Having been one of the lucky one's to attend this special concert at Cardiff Castle back in July 2001 I can say that this DVD is a must for all Tom Jones Fans.

The fact that the concert was held in the open air at Cardiff Castle made it extra special, a little cold but at least the rain kept off, the whole setting in the Castle grounds was amazing.

Tom Jones performing in Wales I have to say that the atmosphere was electric as the DVD shows.

As always Tom performs a wide variety of songs from the old to the new, something for everyone of all ages.

The extra features included on the DVD are a bonus and worth having a look at.
