Rush of Blood to the Head.......2006-02-27
Catching Rush's 30th anniversary tour in Birmingham, this is a welcome reminder of that night. I initially balked at hearing of yet another kive presenttion form this band after Different Stages and Rush in Rio, but I'm glad I circummed. The CD double is of much better quality than the Rio CD adn the DVD picture quality is superb. A little disappointed not to get the whole show, but understandable as those bits are on Rio anyway. The archives are great and the interviews illuminating with the benefit of hindsight. If you're a Rush fan you'll love this. The artwork is also trully superb.
don't buy this buy Rush in Rio.......2006-02-22
I had tickets for their Wembley show but missed it..............moved to Qatar instead - so I was really looking forward to watching the concert I missed.
............Sadly, I am very disappointd..............
While the band do their thing in a workmanlike way - it is far from special. After Rush in Rio - which makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up - this is dull - no atmosphere (what is wrong with the crowd) - no memories - just another day at the office.........and Rush is more than that.
They have always strived for perfection, always tried to be innovative, always tried to be the best. Sadly their fail - can't believe I gave it 2 stars -

This lavish commemorative release reeks of luxury all the way from the extravagant packaging all the way down to the exclusive guitar picks and backstage pass sticker that are found inside. Comprising footage of the Frankfurt leg of Rush's 30th Anniversary World Tour on one disc and other rare and classic archived performances from the late 1970s to the Tsunami benefit shows earlier this year on the other as well as a double cd soundtrack, there is much to take in here.
Recorded in September 2004, toward the end of their world tour, the sold out Frankfurt show features the regular features like full Dolby surround, good camera angles and fantastic sound quality, with the crowd noises much quieter than their Rush In Rio DVD. While some songs have been omitted in order to fit the show onto one disc, cool editing has allowed such classic hits as ‘A Passage To Bangkok’, ‘Cygnus X-1’ and, of course, ‘Hemispheres’ to be included in a wondrous opening medley. Both the introduction film of Jerry Stiller dreaming about Rush (don’t we all) and the intermission cartoon of ‘Darn That Dragon’ – starring Dirk, Lurxst and Pratt – are happily featured, adding to the already breathtaking stage show.
Most of the videos of songs not featured on the DVD are found as extras and with lost band interviews and new information galore from the past thirty years, this box set is an essential addition to the collection for any serious Rush fan.

wow.
the one word that can be used to describe this AMAZING DVD/CD! the songs, as always, are superebly chosen and played with much gusto as expecteed yet rather surprisng from these Ageing Rock Gods! best songs by far Summertime Blues (Shame bout the deep voice bits mind!), Xanadu, Subdivisions and of course the moving and superb acoustic performance of Resist. that has now become the house favorite song and is played daily at breakfast! very touching and nearly moved me to tears because of the sheer striped sown, rawness and power of the song. BUY NOW!

I'll admit, I was very skeptical when I heard this was being released back in November, "not ANOTHER live rush thing?!" seems the last 3 or 4 discs they released had been fairly recent live stuff: "Different Stages", "Rush In Rio" (DVD) and "Rush In Rio" (CD) ... then I looked at what was on offer, oh, hey this isn't the same old stuff! for a start, the tracklisting on the first disc bode well..."Mystic Rhythms" and "Between The Wheels"!? ... And "Xanadu"! (Xanadu was dropped from the live sets in 1981 or something) Unless I'm mistaken most of the material hasn't been played live for quite some time, and I personally have been waiting to see the band play Mystic Rhythms live ever since I heard the song. The performances are quite brilliant and entertaining from the off (r30 Overture kicks things off VERY nicely) it's Rush as I like to see them (playing music, duh) and is head and shoulders above the "Rush In Rio" performance, which if I remember right was 50% crowd shots, plus the production didn't sit right with me. Not so here. Neil's "Der Trommeler" drum solo is particuarly brilliant, as always.
The bonus stuff just adds more value for money, in particular the vintage performances and interviews are just great, and the two live cds that encompass the dvd's performance are really neat too. If you are a Rush fan, you should buy this...if you haven't already.

GREAT DVD!! A MUST HAVE FOR ANY TRUE KISS FAN!.......2007-09-23
THIS IS A GREAT DVD!! A MUST HAVE FOR ANY TRUE KISS FAN!
i was amazed at how you feel like your in the same roo m with the mighty Catman!
The dvd starts out with about an hour of a candid "question and Answer" session with the legend in the flesh! upclose and personal!
Te you travel to a few press events, and best of all is the backstage and pre-concert footage, you feel like one of the crew as you watch and listen to their daily routine in the dressing room, joking laughing and telling each other to f*off..but all in fun!
also you get to see what happens in the {pit" of a real KISS reunion show!
bonus footage also is featured all without having to hunt for silly 'easter eggs' Their is over a half hour of the REAL press conference before the Psycho Circus tour!
Again, A must have for ANY true kiss fan!!!!!!! A+!
