Billy at his best.......2008-01-20
Fantastic picture and sound quality some rather strange camera work but only in short bursts most OK. Billy Joel is really at his best in this concert with great support from a wonderful collection of musicians around him.its a pity the concert seems to be edited i am sure the full concert was longer than this with some of his best songs missing but what is there is superb. Very glad I bought it good value for money.
Shoot the Director!.......2006-09-13
I am a dyed-in-the-wool Joel fan but I have to say that although the musical performances from both Billy and the excellent musicians around him were outstanding, the totally pointless camera gymnastics became more irritating by the minute.
The old adage for movie makers was "Keep the camera still and the subject moving" I just wish that the video production crew had listened to that advice and not ruined an otherwise superb DVD.
Worthless.......2003-11-30
Bill Joel's June 1990 performance at New York's Yankee Stadium was filmed and released first on VHS and then later on DVD. Or rather, a paltry, heavily edited 85 minutes were released, including an annoying six-minute build-up to the show.
Songs include "Piano Man", "Miami 2017", "I Go To Extremes", "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant", and of course "New York State Of Mind", and the sound is acceptable, but the concert itself is filmed horribly, with headache-inducing jerky cuts and blurry photography. Some, including me, may find it virtually unwatchable, unless they really like migraines.
The DVD features a discography (wo-hoo), but no interesting extras of any kind, and the concert itself was much longer, so to snip it to a length of half of one show for is unacceptable.
This DVD will let you down, no matter how much you want to like it.
A Musical "Home Run".......2000-03-16
One of the world's greatest singer/songwriters at one of the world's greatest sporting venues.
In the outfield that the Babe and the Mick once patroled we're treated to a classic performance from the Piano Man.
