5 out of 5 stars Heart's Back - And it's Bigger than Ever.......2007-07-12

With a new line up of musicians, Ann & Nancy Wilson return from their acoustic sabbatical and return to their roots in Rock with this tour; The last concert of which is shown on this DVD. The setting is intimate (no 75k seater stadium this time) and the whole atmosphere is friendly. Both Ann and Nancy engage and joke with the audience, introducing their songs in a humourous and crowd pleasing way. And on top of this, their performance of the songs themselves is great; The blend of classics, Album songs, covers and New songs is nigh on perfect.

One would expect that with age and over-use, these incredible sisters' musical talent would have diminished some from their days of early success. NOT SO! Ann's vocals have changed, but not for the worse, while Nancy's guitar work has never been anything short of fantastic. She even has the energy in her performance that made her such a rock icon in the 70s/80s. As with many heart CD releases there is also a message from Ann and Nancy in which they discuss the initiative and message behind their four new songs and also elaborate about the tracks they have covered and why.

All the classics: "Magic Man" "Crazy on You" "Barracuda" have been updated and given a different sound than that of their previous incarnations while some of Ann and Nancy's favourite songs like "Mistral Wind" and "Love Alive" have been included and are performed so well it is almost chilling. The cover's are also well chosen: Sonic's "The Witch" appearing early builds up the mood while the beautiful rendition of Elton John's "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" (With exquisite vocals from Nancy) and crowd pleasing version of Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" bridge the middle of the concert with a delicate feel.

An 80s fan however may be disappointed when viewing the track list as the only REAL 80s mateirial is "Alone" and "These Dreams" but in my oppinion the Interpretation of the latter is almost enough to sell the DVD on it's own. Additionally the new songs are very strong. In fact I bought the CD of this concert aswell the day after watching the DVD because I loved the songs "Break the Rock" and "Sister Wild Rose" so much and simply had to have them on my iPod.

I would highly recommend this concert to Heart fans of all time periods as it has something for everyone and might even get you into something that you had previously disliked. It changed my mind about their 80s period and I am now a proud owner of the albums "Heart", "Bad Animals" and "Brigade" which I had previously shunned with all my might. All in all, a great comeback for a great band.

5 out of 5 stars Musical excellence!.......2004-06-14

I was wondering if it was a good idea to buy a DVD of a reunion concert of a band which was famous twenty years ago. So many bands and publishers are are presenting us with total rubbish, as long as they can have something on DVD. My fondness of Heart won me over and I got the DVD. And I am so glad I did!

This DVD is high quality, from beginning to end and is obviously not just a "reunion concert".

The live show must have been spectacular, as the Wilson sisters still have what it takes, in abundance. The show was filmed in the Paramount in Seattle in front of a home crowd, and it shows. The editors really captured the crowd's dedication and enthusiasm very well, and the interaction between audience and band is great.

The band in itself is also great and deliver a flawless performance. The sisters were in top form and obviously having the time of their lives up there. Anne Wilson delivered a dynamite performance which, during numbers like "Mistral Wind" were nothing short of monumental. Nancy Wilson, although much more understated, showed, yet again, why the Wilson sisters have built up such a formidable reputation and following over the years, as they are truly masters of their craft.

The selection is also commendable. They seem to have struck an ideal balance between old staples, new compositions and covers (of Elton John and Led Zeppelin). And, the new stuff is GOOD! All the obvious choices (Barracuda, Magic Man, Dog and Butterfly) are also included.

One thing which fascinates me, is how Nancy Wilson's whole demeanor changes with each instrument she plays - to see how she becomes more romantic playing acoustic instruments, bubbly when she straps on a Telecaster and almost dangerous when she starts slinging her Gibson SG around! Very intersting.

Make no mistake: watching this DVD will bring on the nostalgia, BIG TIME!

This DVD is a must for every Heart fan. If you are not a Heart fan, this is the PERFECT place to start!

5 out of 5 stars The good old days return !!.......2003-08-20

Ok so all the Classic Rock Bands are doing it, Dvd`s here Dvd`s there, some good, some, well bloody awful! I have never reviewed any .. so far but this i promise you deserves a little mention. Heart have returned with a Dvd that will not dissapoint
not just Heart fans but anyone that might just fancy giving it a go. From the opening bars of `Crazy on you` you know just how classy this is going to be. Anne Wilsons voice is awesome, Nancy as well as looking pretty fit! is superb. To be honest i would have paid the money for this for `Mistral Wind`alone. With Magic Man, Barracuda,Dog and Butterfly, well need i say more. Add some new tracks which are all great and a couple of `Zep` classics ( which i`m sure even Zep would be more than pleased of ) and you have a great track listing. The sound and visual content are very good. This band still have it. Hopefully a new album soon too. Treat yourself, i did and remember i dont normally do reviews!! This is worth the effort.

5 out of 5 stars The music really does come from the "Heart"!.......2003-06-26

I have been a massive fan of HEART ever since i could remember, and after buying "The Road Home" video (Which i think would be a fantastic addition to anyones "heart" collection) i wanted to see them in a real live rock concert, this Brand New DVD is defiently the one i've been waiting for, which features their classics such as Heart's greatest rock composition to date "Mistral Wind" to the soulful yet sweet "Love Alive" and other well known songs such as the great ethereal ballad "These Dreams" and the explosive rock track "Wild Child". The other great thing about this DVD is that it also features 4 BRAND NEW SONGS,such as "Heaven", "Break The Rock", "Sister Wild Rose" and "Two Faces of Eve".Also lncludes Led Zepplin covers and Elton John covers. Truthfully speaking i think this DVD would make any HEART fan proud to be a fan.

I am a british 15 year old, i have been a heart fan since i was 10.
I have 13 of their albums, so i thought it might be nice to see them live on the TV screen, rather on my cd player.
This is a GREAT DvD, because it has -their classic hits
-their 80's Hits
-And 4 brand new songs
-also Elton John,
Led Zepplin covers.
It is really cool to know that heart hasn't forgot to include their earlier hits such as Heart's most famous compositions "Mistal Wind" "Love Alive"

3 out of 5 stars Great tips and great shorts from a great batsman.......2006-09-04

Coaching DVDs are a bit like Aerobics videos. They sound like a good idea at the time, but often less useful as practical aids.

Martin Crowe's DVD is a straight up batting technique guide along these lines. If you are going to get coached on batting it may as well be by a bloke with 71 first class centuries and a Test average of over 45.

SO for younger players wanting to get an idea of the basics it is especially good. It's certainly clearer than the MCC Masterclass video.

Plus Martins shorts are worth the entrance fee alone.

It's limited in use for more intermediate/advanced players, but you can pick up a few tips from someone who has done it all. For example: When coming down the wicket to spinners, look for a flighted, slow turning ball to minimise risk.

Amazon should not be selling this. This package is not the O2 gig despite the blatant suggestion from the sellers that it is.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

THIS IS NOT THE O2 GIG - BUY IT AND THE DISTRIBUTORS WILL HAVE SMEARED EGG ALL OVER YOUR FACE

1 out of 5 stars What a blatant rip-off!.......2007-12-26

This is nothing to do with the recent reunion gig and has been produced simply to cash in on the event. The manufacturers are hoping gullible people will buy it, or, more likely, people will buy it as gifts for fans not realising that the title is as phoney as the product.

I've given it one star because it's not possible to award it the none that it deserves.
