Siouxsie - Dreamshow

DVD Description

Siouxsie Sioux's dream of playing live with a classical orchestra became reality at the Royal Festival Hall in October 2004 - and was captured on DVD to ensure her fans the world over could share this unique moment with her. From classic Banshees tracks to Creatures singles, and including tracks never performed live before, Dreamshow takes you to the heart of Siouxsie's performance - with the addition of talented guests like Kodo drummer Leonard Eto and cellist Martin McCarrick.

The show featured 27 Banshees and Creatures songs, from classic hits like "Happy House" and "Cities In Dust" to B-side and rarities getting their first ever live airing on this disc. Special features include footage of the rehearsals with the orchestra, soundcheck, exclusive interviews with Sioux, Budgie and the rest of the band as well as an exclusive selection of tracks culled from Siouxsie's last appearance at London's legendary punk venue, the 100 Club.

5 out of 5 stars THERE IS ONLY ONE SIOUXSIE.......2006-11-03

You must get this DVD and discover AGAIN why Siouxsie Sioux is a STAR. She burns brightly after all these years and is one of the few performers who can make a taped live show seem just as exciting as if you were really there. GET THIS DVD!

4 out of 5 stars For those of us who love her..........2006-06-15

The this was great. I was at the gig and it had a lot more atmosphere than comes across in the DVD, you have to remember it was at the RFH..
Siouxsie has always been a bit wobbly live voice wise, certainly in the last few years but she is an all round performer not an opera singer. I think her voice has taken a bit of a battering over the years one way and another and its only to be expected.
Those of us who love her know that she always gives her all and is always innvoative and exciting to watch so are not really going to moan about the odd bum note or hoarse fade out.

Budgie is and always will be a musical God to me and he never fails to please and intrigue.

This DVD is a nice reminder for me of a very enjoyable night and a tremendous performer.

Check out 7 Year Itch DVD too or for some classic Sioux the newly released and remastered Nocturne DVD from way back when. If you are picky about the voice - it was a bit healthier then!

(I realise I'm in the minority on this, but then again, it's all about your own opinion ..)

No no no.

Seeing one of my icons of the 70s perform again was the dream and it looks more light a nightmare to me.

How was this event billed?
- There's no atmosphere from an indifferent audience who sit(!) whilst watching Siouxsie as she attempts a mixture of the Creatures and Banshees back catalog.

The show made me whince at several points as Siouxsie fails to raise any support "You're supposed to be chanting his name!" as she introduces her one-and-only Budgie.
As for Budgie's performance - 10/10. With a mini-orchestra at his disposal he may well be accused of using the event as a platform for some serious self-indulgence - but this does work.
The drumming performances (Budgie ably supported by Japanese Leonard Eto) are tight and the new musical arrangements put a refreshing slant on some of the old numbers.

5 out of 5 stars You NEED this DVD !!!.......2006-02-11

Unbelievably, people have purchased this dvd and been grateful that Siouxsie sings in tune ! Take it from me, at some points she doesn't - and the resulting "I've spat out my dummy" at the end of 'Kiss Them For Me' has more to do with the fact that the song is completely out of Siouxsie's vocal range (as she has previously stated) rather than the 'air conditioning' (on which she blamed the problem).
But lets not dwell on the negative - the dvd is fantastic and there are several songs where she successfully comes into her own (Face To Face being one). There is also something rather comfortable about this punkesque version of Richard & Judy performing with younger accomplished musicians (who admittedly look a little worried at times - check out the backing singers glances as Siouxsie shrieks !) - In not so many years to come, such a performance will achieve cult status - Mae West stylee - please do not regard all of this as negative - I adore the woman I really do ! If you haven't already done so - buy it. The dvd captures all of the anxiety that made up the actual gig !

5 out of 5 stars Siouxsie at her best!.......2006-01-30

I bought this DVD when it was released and it was like a dream come true.
Songs that I never saw live, she sang.
It´s always good to see them perform and this one was onr of the best I bought in the last 5 YEARS!!
Five Stars is not enough to describe how great this DVD is. Exceot only for its sound that goes up and down with no reason.
