A Real Birthday Celebration!.......2004-05-10
This amazing birthday tribute knocked my socks off. Tina performs in a London venue that resembles ‘Thunderdome’ with her center stage and encompassed by fans 360 degrees on five levels. Although Tina only performs fifteen songs (in concert), there are plenty of clips dating back to the early sixties when she was with Ike Turner. One might think this would be an annoying distraction, but it proves illuminating. Her former ‘Ike-ette’ singer, PP Arnold comments frequently on their history and there are dozens of other singers that comment about working with Tina. Most notably are remarks by Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, Cher, Mariah Carey, Sting, Al Green, Keith Richards, Bono and plenty of others (what is Oprah doing here?) Great duet clips are included such as with Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger and Cher. Tina also comments throughout on her own amazing history. The only low points are the two songs Tina sings with Bryan Adams – they just don’t do her justice. The band is cracker with a plenty of strings and a huge horn section to bring out the organic feeling of the concert. This truly is a Birthday celebration not to be missed. At age 60, Tina’s still got it.

Well, after I've watched the DVD,it was clear to me again that Tina is one of the (few) best live performers in the world. Starting with classical River deep mountain high, and continuing with 24-7, What's love..., Steamy windows and many well known songs (duet with B. Adams), the concert that she celebrated her 60th birthday with, shows her at her best, along with the band reinforced by Royal philharmonic orchestra and London community gospel choir... The whole atmosphere gives my flesh creeps with delight. Musical ears, don't hesitate, don't wait too long: buy it NOW!!!! and ENJOY !!!.

2000 celebrate.......2004-11-21
This is not a review, I want to know whether a video or DVD was released for 2000 July, for a concert in Dublin which starred Tina Turner and Lionel Ritchie?
Exhilirating, stunning, moving, fun ..........2002-02-28
This is Tina's 60th birthday concert, with interviews with Tina mixed in (and some shorter snippets with Sting, Phil Spector, Marc Knopfler..) and tapes of older concerts, some going back to Ike & Tina Turner times. Tina's in top fettle here, surrounded by the cream of the crop in terms of musicians, vocalists, dancers. Her singing is fantastic (and it's great to see how she handles the parts that at 60 she can't do like 20 years ago), at times very moving, and always displays the zest we expect. There's a great duo with Brian Adams, too. The only reason the DVD doesn't make 5 stars is that, to me, the visual treatment is too busy: I don't think there's one single shot on the whole concert that lasts longer than 3 seconds. It gets in the way of enjoying the concert to the full. Still warmly recommended, though!
