this T.V special incudes a behind the scenes and extended footage look. All his songs are here, his usual energy and charm, and a great addition to any barry Manilow collection, Brilliant!

A Disappointing Presentation.......2006-01-08

Barry's performance was as excellent as ever but was let down by:
1. The continual and annoying reference to CBS which interupted the flow of the music
2. The brevity of the musical performance which lasted just 44 minutes, resulting in some of his most popular songs not being performed in full.
3. The DVD showed excerpts from other concerts which made the content feel totally dis-jointed.

Fantastic DVD. This is Barry Manilow at his best. Well shot and a great selection of tunes. If you love Barry this is just for you ! The second DVD is great, a look behind the scenes at a genius at work. Enjoy !

Prepare to be let down........2005-02-13

I will not waste your time with a lenghty review as I wasted enough time watching the "show". Having previously enjoyed a Manilow concert on TV what better than to buy this, his latest ultimate DVD for my wife as a Christmas gift. Indeed, I did enjoy that TV show and could understand what his fans could see in his ability as a showman (there are so few of them around these days).
I have never seen a DVD whose sponsors are mentioned so many times by the unseen compare that that you felt the DVD came free when you purchased a burger with fries from a well known and just as irritating burger chain.
The obligatory second DVD started with the build up suspence ploy. The "waiting for something to happen" shot was becoming so irritatingly unbearable that you wanted to turn it off there and then. Finnaly, it must be good old Bazza on next? But no, what can only be called a warm up man decided to make an appearance. With as much charisma as a shed at Buckingham Palace he began to talk and talk and talk.Click!
I can only surmise that this "set" was released without good old Bazza's knowledge. But to be fair to the man, if you do buy this I would suggest that you also buy a DVD editing kit and copy the songs to another disk because his hits are so good.

The whole expierience just goes to show what the future of entertainment is likely to be like if American business cultures are allowed to ruin what aught to be entertainment.

Ultimate Manilow is a great dvd set.You get 2 helpings of the ultimate showman. disc 1 is the aired version which is fab. disc 2 is where you get to see how it was made and it has barry chatting to the audience between takes.the second disc also features an audio commentary by barry . if you`re a fan,you`re going to love this.if you have just discovered bazza (where have you been all these years?) then buy this dvd and discover why he is so popular. they don`t call this dvd "ULTIMATE MANILOW" for nothing.
