Sade Adu has always been a class act: Sade: Life Promise Pride Love assembles the videos for most of her early hits, from "Your Love is King" to "Love is Stronger than Pride". Collected together it is remarkable what a fine group of short films they are. She was always one of the few rock stars who could play the femme fatale of noir film convincingly, and later video clips where she plays the girl next door or rides horses are as convincingly healthy and open air as the earlier ones are claustrophobic and passionate. The swaying beats of her songs, the throaty delicate passion of her singing, the sheer beauty of her presence as a performer--all of these are well served by this excellent collection of videos.

On the DVD: The DVD also features a bonus video, "By Your Side", filmed and recorded in 2000, a complete discography and biography of Sade and the lyrics of the songs as subtitles in English, French and Spanish. --Roz Kaveney

Stunning video catologue.......2003-04-20

Each video here is in chronological order from Sade's beginnings right up to the Lover's Rock album, included is the video for "By Your Side" unfortunately this was released before the shoot for the single "King Of Sorrow", but that is available on "lovers live". All in all a beautiful showcase of an ageless talent that is Sade.

Fantastic discography collection by one of the great voices........2001-03-02

This a complete discography of one of the most talented songwriter/singer artists from the last 2 decades.

Classics songs such as Smooth Operator and Hang on to your love will be gladly treasured by those fans who have missed her vocal talents for the last few years. The video / audio quality have been remastered to dolby digital 5.1, although most people will agree that stereo is a far better format for playing music dvds on DTS/Dolby receivers.

I recommend this dvd to anyone has experienced the warmth and emotion of Sade's songs and to those how have yet to discover the undeniable talent of the songtress that is Sade.

Here is my track by track review of the recently released Beach Boys DVD Live at Kebworth 1980.

1.Intro - 0:49

Carl Wilson and Al Jardine slur there way through this 49 seconds of a dirty joke about under age girls and mud sharks

2. California Girls (Love/Wilson) - 3:11
3. Sloop John B (Traditional/Wilson) - 3:03

Nasty nasal Al Jardine does double quick rendition of Cal Girlz, the only thing making listening bare - able being Carl and Dennis intermittent howls of "Girlls! Girrls!"

This is followed by quite a rocking version of Sloop John b with Brian on lead vocal and keyboards. Not to be missed!

4. Darlin’ (Love/Wilson) - 2:37

This is the same recording as on the 1997 Beach Boys rock u pantry never ending harmony. Following this the beach boys dance around in their togas, Mike Love has a beautiful toga, play acting to the teenage girls in the audience. Possibly wishing to harness the “secret power” of the girls youth and beauty?

The next song to be played is School Days; mike love performs the chicken dance. The rest of the Beach Boys accompany as best they can. For the duration of the chicken dance Brian Wilson stares at a message scrawled on his piano. It reads “DON’T PANIC” and he doesn’t
Next up its “God Only Knows” It’s not nice. It’s bad. Brian Wilson attempts to play the piano but soon gives up seemingly concentrating hard on not panicking.
Following this the beardy boys take another hit of the hard stuff as Brian Wilson and gang squeeze there bulbous frames back into there favourite Pendletone shirts to roll out another bunch of teen favourites. (Be true to your school etc.) at this point the boys appear to be “lost in a melancholy bewilderment”. Perhaps contemplating lost youth and the excesses of age? Anyway this moment continues until one of the beards forces the other beards to perform the popular old time tune; “Cottonfields”. Sadly It all falls apart when the rest of the band forgets how to end the song. Fortunately the band resolved this situation by playing the Beach Boy’s hit ode to the occult, Heroes and Villains. This seems to round things of nicely

10.Cotton Fields/Heroes and Villains (Ledbetter/Parks/Wilson) - 5:34
Its rare to see the happy go lucky twice murderer Huddy Ledbetter and Van Dyke Parks on the same writing credits unless you count there collaborations on the T.V. hit, "Diagnosis MURDER"

11.Happy Birthday Brian (Bachman/Wilson) - 1:08
Next up stuck for ideas the band begins to sing happy birthday to Brian Wilson, and the crowd (like sheep) join in. The singing of this song seems to greatly trouble Brian as his birthday was not due until the next month. At this point Mr Wilson’s silent mental breakdown is clearly audible on the recording of “Live at Kebworth 1980.”

The only other performances of note following Brian's breakdown, “Lady Linda” and “You are so beautiful to me”

Lady Linda being Al Jarden’s tortured ode to Paul McCartney’s Meatless wife and you are so beautiful to me, Dennis Wilson co-written love song that rumour has was written about Mike loves illegitimate 15 year old meat eating daughter. And that’s that, as the say. Just who are “they” and what do “they” want, perhaps we will never know? In conclusion there is one thing I know and that’s; the Beach Boys Live at Kebworth 1980 is well worth the price. But if you can if you can find it cheaper then that’s always a good thing isn’t it? Alternatively you may wish not to buy it at all.
