Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Simply not as great as some would have you believe.........2008-01-23

Let me save you some flannel. Its a pretty good dvd but certainly NOT 'Ass kicking live Rock'n'Roll', I'm sorry to say..

Some of the classics on here such as Firewoman and She Sell's.. don't really work to their full potential and Astbury appears to be out of breath some of the time..

The skill of Billy Duffy is perhaps not in his playing but his ability to disguise the fact that the next song also has the same 3 chords, as does the next, and the next one!! An observation and NOT a criticism ..

However, the star is undoubtedly, drummer Matt Sorum who's controlled and measured pace ensures that (almost) everything ticks over just as it should..

4 stars at most - don't believe the hype!

5 out of 5 stars Earth, Soul, Rock & Roll.......2007-10-18

Admittedly you are only going to buy this DVD if you are a fan of The Cult but often such things turn into cynical marketing exercises. However, this 'does exactly what it says on the tin' and gives you an entire concert without breaks. The sound is strong, the performance as fantastic as always, the picture quality is outstanding including a little move into artistic colouring during the show.

Above all this DVD reminds you of what it is like to see the most unique British band in a generation doing what it does best.

You will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars This is Ass kicking live Rock'n'Roll!!!.......2004-01-12

This is much better than I thought it would be, i'd never seen a live concert of the Cult so I did not know what to expect in one way but had they're studio albums so i knew the Cult sound on Record. Yeah, I expected energy for sure but from the start of the opening track this is all balls out Rock'n'Roll performance that any band even half these guys age would + should be proud of. The band are so tight , the addition of a second Rythum guitarist fills out the sound just the right amount, Ian Astbury deserves to be commended on his powerfull vocals considering his Dynamic and frequently athletic stage performance where sometimes he just about makes it back to his Mic after doing a full lap of the stage,he always looked fully in control. Duffy looking cool and calm on the lead guitar cranking out endless signature riffs without hardly breaking into a sweat and incorporating a vast array of styles from Gothic, Heavy Metal, Thrash, Indie, with a blues pentatonic flavour to his lead playing. But ,set aside the technical side of what the band are capapble of the energy of this concert from the opening riff is just a great buzz ,as a LIVE performance possibly in the same league live as the Chilli Peppers (though I'm not a fan of the Chilli's I appreciate they're energy)......this is a Gem of a concert to won on even an ounce of appreciation for the spirit of good live Rock'n'Roll music. No risk involved, BUY IT!!!

5 out of 5 stars Cult for the Noughties.......2002-11-25

Make the most of this DVD, CultFreaks, as it may be the last that you see/hear of them for a while. Recorded in October 2001 during the Beyond Good & Evil tour, this is grown up Cult - sexual violent tense rock'n'roll to quote singer Ian Astbury.

No more frills, no delusions of grandeur, the show is stripped down to its bloody core, but still encompasses old favourites such as Wild Flower, Lil' Devil, as well as new tracks such as Rise and the rarely performed True Believers. Backstage footage shows the unique interaction of The Cult with their many generaations of fans (in the USA anyhow).

Filmed before an American audience, this may not be quite how you remember the boys, but it is a definite must for true believers or just the idly curious.
