Amazon.co,uk Review
Created and produced by Shaun Cassidy (yes, the former teen idol who also produced American Gothic), Invasion starts in a flurry with a devastating hurricane threatening a Florida city and a 21st-century family happens to be in the middle of it. There's park ranger Russell Groves (Eddie Cibrian) and his wife, Larkin (Lisa Sheridan), who's an inquisitive television reporter. Living with them is Larkin's no-account brother, Dave (Tyler Labine), who blogs about conspiracy theories and aliens while between jobs. Also living with them some of the time are Russell's kids, Rose (Ariel Gade) and Jesse (Evan Peters), who also spend time with their mother, doctor Mariel Underlay (Kari Matchett), who has also remarried, to the town's sinister sheriff, Tom (William Fichtner). Tom also has a child from a previous marriage, sexy teen Kira (Alexis Dziena).
Amid the chaos of the hurricane, little Rose is the only one to notice a group of strange lights dropping from the sky into the water, then Mariel disappears only to turn up in a swamp the next morning, seemingly unharmed but now with a strange affinity for water. Not so lucky is Dave, whose investigation of Rose's colored lights leads to the discovery that those lights have a pretty fierce set of teeth. And what does the sheriff have to hide? Parts of Invasion feel like The X-Files or 24, and obviously the central concept isn't new, but it has enough revelations and spooky chills to keep the viewer coming back for more. Unfortunately, even all that wasn't enough to keep Invasion from being canceled after its first season. The problem is that the season--and the series--ends in a whopping cliffhanger, which may never be resolved. So before you invest yourself into a full season of Invasion, be warned. --David Horiuchi

superb but shame about ending!.......2008-01-02
as soon as the first episode aired, i was immediately into it! i was gripped from start to finish and my family was aswell!
one of the best TV programs i have ever seen, its right up there with The X Files!
hopefully the second season will be announced and aired because they just cant leave it at where Larkin is taken! if they want to kill the series off then they should do it properly like kill all of the main characters or have them turned and then killed! or even slowly drift them apart going their separate ways!
A good idea ruined.......2007-10-01
Invasion started out as a good idea and the first few episodes were worth watching, then after Episode 4 the pace slowed down with the characters continually going round in circles making unbelievable decisions and going absolutely nowhere in the story. I stopped watching after the 8th episode but tuned in towards the end and found the story had become even sillier
Invasion could have been a classic series but failed due to poor script editing, unbelievable characters and a plodding story line.
A tragedy.......2007-06-11
This show was right up there in my top tv list when it was aired. I loved Taken and this is almost it's equal.
Unfortunatly, it got cut after the first season meaning that the there is no proper end to the season. they could have at least been allowed to go back and reshoot or add an extra episode. It's like when a tv recording cuts off the end of your program!!
Invasion.......2007-05-31
Does the DVD provide subtitles track as i am deaf and depends on subtitles? I already purchased some other DVDs but unfortunatelyly they didn't support subtitles (English) and i had to send it back etc. I like to watch Invasion again as i have most of the serie seen in TV, but rather to watch it again through DVD. Pls do let me knwo if it have subtitlies (English).. Thank you
I wasn't that sure first..........2007-05-14
...even though the price is really more than fair, presently. I saw every single episode on TV and was really fascinated by the characters and the interesting storyline that keeps the whole series exciting until the last episode.
Many of previous reviewers already mentioned that the last episode ends with a sudden and unexpected cliff hanger that makes you want to see more. Many even reckoned it to be disappointing to be left this way and that there won't be a second series.
I disagree on that.
Although this surely didn't mean to be the "chosen ending" by the director, it leaves you thinking of what might have happened afterwards instead of telling the viewer everything. Honestly, I even don't really want to know how it would have continued because I'm happy the way it is now.
One also has to look at the whole story which is very well written. The conflict between the two families changes slightly from one episode to another and it always makes you looking forward to how it is going to develop.
Also worth mentioning is that none of the actors is strikingly worse than one of the others. They all play there roles authentically (outstanding performance: Sherrif Tom Underlay, played by William Fichtner), although one may sometimes easily find some stereotyped ideas behind them.
For those who are not sure whether to buy the DVD set or not:
First of all, I do not regret it until now! I eventually purchased it to support "Invasion" on the one hand and on the other, to have one of the best series on DVD I've ever seen.
I realised that I had already forgotten most of the very early scenes and I'm glad to be able to see them again. Furthermore I discovered that many nice details can only be seen when not being distracted by the main storyline. The whole background is much more conclusive then.
Also there are some missing scenes added to the episodes but I can't tell whether they are good as I couldn't make them out yet and haven't watched them seperately.
Eventually I can recommend this DVD to anyone who has not yet seen the series and even to those who already saw the whole thing on TV.
Boredom while wathing it is surely very unlikely.

Irrepressibly funny.......2007-05-12
I remember first watching Dirty Sanchez on Mtv as they had completed filming series 2, and was instantly gripped by the madness that seemed to exude from this quartet. My first impression was that this would merely be a Jackass spinoff, but that opinion, if anything, is a serious understatement of what these lads can do. In series 3, their willingness to push each other to the limits really comes to the fore; Daiton and Pritchard's constant battle of wills is by far the funniest piece of television I have seen in years. On one instance, Prtichard decides to get his own back on Dait by using pepper spray in the tour bus, with the result that not only everyone succumbs to a near death coughing fit, but the coach driver checks them off the tour bus miles from any form of public transport.
This one of many similar instances, and which in this series spans across, scandinavia, germany, Czech Republic, greece, Italy and Spain. The exotic locations provide an exciting change to the stunts they perfected in the series 1+2, and in their interactions with the locals, tour bus manager 'Johnny B', and their insistance to drive one another crazy, the dirty sanchez crew provide a televsion program unlike any other you would have seen before, or are ever likely to see again.
In terms of extras, there is a considerable ammount of additional footage that outlines stunts that didnt make it to the editied versions, whilst there are a good number of interviews with Daiton, Pritch, Joyce and Pancho that give an insight to their chracters you wouldn't necessarily see in the main show.
The humour is certainly not for everyone, and is heavily dependent on slapstick and hyperbole- but if, like me, you can empathise with the comaradirie that obviously exists between these four friends, then prepare to laugh yourself silly.
Sanchez but not dirty...........2006-08-26
Now dont get me wrong, im a huge huge fan of Dirty Sanchez in both the TV show and the skating world. I watched the previous 2 shows with delight and laughter and was expecting this to be the same joy, but it aint.
Series 1 was a fantastic show, to be honest it was more a biography of the lads from Dirty Sanchez, each episode exploring more and more of the lives of the troubled 4some. Series 2 however delved more into what was happening now and how they are get on in different jobs. For me series 2 was a huge step and proved more entertaining than the first.
Series 3 however, for me, is a "take the best bits from series 1 and 2 and repeat them on each episode" affair. Although there are some parts which are great as allways, it felt more drawn out than the last 2.
Each episode featured a gig in a different part of the world, using the famous stunts and gags they used in the previous shows. It gets a little boring at times and you can see for yourselves they actually start getting on each others nerves by the final 2 or 3 episodes.
Its not a complete let down, not by far, but dont expect it to be as good as series 2, not by a long shot.
Roll on the 4th installment
Easily the best so far........2005-10-30
From what I have seen of series three, I have no doubt that this is far superior to both of the previous series. What seemed so extreme in the first series they now do with the utmost casualness and frequency. New stunts include being caned naked in ice-cold water, having an arrow shot into the buttocks (you may remember this in Braveheart, you may not) and intentionally crashing a car into a cliff face.
If you are considering buying Sanchez DVDs, forget the other two- they are nothing compared to this. Really.
