Excellent and a memorable performance!!!!.......2005-04-04
Stargate Sg-1 have come a long way since the beginning and now face an iminant threat from the half ascended Go'a'uld Anubis. They have recently discovered a repository of the Ancients located in the ruins of a temple. They rush there in order to gain the location of the Lost City which they believe is inside the Repository. Once again O'neill gets the knowlege downloaded into his brain, he did this in an act of despair since Anubis had arrived in search of this information himself. Dr.Weir is an representative from the UN who negoitaites for peace and to stop funding the United States milatary. The President asks her directly to run the SGC since they wanted to have a "friendly face" in charge once they go public. General Hammond gets sent to Washington to deal with the current situation at hand. Meanwhile at the SGC, Jack writes in a crossword the name of the Lost City. Daniel realizes it has six syllables and figures out the gate address. So Jack,Daniel and Sam go there on a ship procudure by Teal'c. They find out that the Lost City is on Earth however they are at an outpost which was left behind by the ancients. Jack takes back a power source later known as a Zero Point Module(zpm) which would power the weapons of the lost city. They hurry back to Earth and hope Anubis does not realize the location before they do. Once they arrive in Antartica they use the ring platform which had been modified by Jack to dig throught the ice. Jack activates the millions of drones which attack the Go'a'uld ships. Jack becomes weary since his brain has totally been taken over. Does he Survive? well i cant give everything away but i trully recommend you watch this and i can Guarantee you will not be disapointed!!! A MUST SEE!!!!!
Very Good!.......2005-03-13
This is a very good feature length episode. There is a fair ammount of action, but there is also politics and the required self serving, possibly slightly stupid, politician. The ending is fairly predictable, however, and people who have not seen many of the lead up episodes may find parts of the story confusing.
This episode also sees the introduction of Dr Elizabeth Weyr, of Atlantis fame, and we get to see O'Neill try (and fail) to complete a scientific crossword. Well worth the money.
lost city.......2004-08-19
The best two episodes yet of them all.
Great effects and the best is that Anubis gets his behind kicked.
Absolutely worth buying
Very good but flawed.......2004-07-20
I bought this disk in a spirit of some excitment, given the scope of last year's 'Full Circle' and the promsie of an episode which was almsot a movie. The episodes are engaging, fun, and as dramatic and excitgn as I've come to expect from such an excellent series. However, the plot seems a littl contrived: O'Neill's predicament seems to crop up at every turn to solve every problem and move the plot forward, and the convenience of some of the plot points leaves you feeling a little cheated. The episode was obviously supposed to be a movie, adn the budget of a TV sereis also makes it suffer (the off-screen destruction of the seventh fleet, for instance). Despit this moaning, however, the episode is overall a great couple of hours, and well worth the purchase.
Excellent season finale.......2004-07-15
Still convinced that finding the Lost City is their best chance of beating Anubis, O'Neill allows the knowledge of the Ancients to be downloaded into his brain in the hope of learning its location. The last time he did this his body and mind couldn't cope and he needed the Asgard to remove it before he died but this time the Asgard are nowhere to be found and his team know that this could be his final act of heroism. Whilst SG-1 come to terms with O'Neill's worsening condition and race to find the Lost City there are political moves being made elsewhere in the SGC and Anubis begins his attack on Earth.
This double part episode has everything that makes Stargate SG-1 great: the acting from the whole cast is excellent, especially in the scenes where they each try to explain how they feel to O'Neill; the story is exciting and sets up the spin off (which looks impressive); the special effects are amazing; the script is excellent with O'Neill's dry humour much in evidence; there is some (well handled) Jack/Sam UST and; there is a cliffhanger ending. What more could you want from a TV show?
Extras include an interesting director's commentary (Martin Wood) and 'making of' featurette. There is also meant to be an Easter Egg entitled 'Richard Dean Anderson: My Life as a Mime' but I can't comment on that as I haven't found it yet.
This is the best Stargate SG-1 episode to date. If you haven't seen it yet then you really need to. You won't be disappointed.
