The funniest show you have never seen..........2005-11-25
This show used to aired on the Sci-fi channel before some legal issues involving the rights to show the awful, awful films were taken away (sometimes you wonder whether the films deserve to have rights, they are that bad) It was comedy at its finest, 3 characters, shot into space as part of an evil experiment are forced to watch terrible movies to see how long it takes for them to crack. However to ease their pain they crack jokes over the top of the films. What follows are some amazingly funny episodes. On this boxset The Creeping Terror is so funny, the jokes they make are so funny. These are mainly aimed at the "Carpet Monster", due to people actual crawling into its mouth. It really is that bad, and possibly the worst film ever "Sky Divers" with an entire sub plot dedicated to the pursuit of coffee. The show is just simply hilarious, you will be rolling on the floor and the humour varies from toilet to black, to down right rude. One word of warning, there are some references to American people/shows that you might not get. Don't let that put you off and remember how funny it is. I implore you all to buy all of the box sets like me. It only gets better...
Never before has watching bad movies been so fun!.......2004-02-08
Mystery Science Theatre Vol.1 is outstanding value for money, being 675 mins long you definately get your monies worth! For those who dont know anything about this product, MST3K Vol.1 is a collection of 4 feature length B-movies of which are constantly being voiced over by 3 loveable characters on their spaceship. The movies include The Skydivers, Bloodlust, Catalina Caper and The Creeping Terror.
The special features are aimed at B-movie fans as they contain all 4 films minus any interference by MST3K. For the price this DVD is well worth the buy, even if you havnt heard of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 the packaging is a joy in itself. It is also extremely doubtful that MST3K will be aired on UK television apparently due to copyright reasons, so its worth a look!

This is something for true film lovers...not those who only enjoy the finest but those who get kicks out of the worst: and dear God these are worst. If you've ever found yourself rolling on the ground in laughter at terrible actors, scripts, effects, premises and anything that SHOULD be good in a film then stop reading these reviews and purchase all the MST3K DVD's/videos (if you're able). MST3K makes all the jokes over these films so you don't have too. Vol 2 includes:
Angels revenge:
Jack 'City Slicker/Batman' Palance turns up in this, the crudest Charlie's Angels rip off (why? why?) featuring, and no I kid you not, a schoolteacher who decides to destroy the local drug Cartel becuase one of her children got beat up trying to steal drugs from the dealer. We feel for him. She hires a group of 'women' (read breasts) who drive around in whats meant to be a cool van. Dispicable film, yet hilarious.
Cave Dwellers:
'How much Keefe'..Miles O Keefe stars in this, a confusing (is it a sequel? whats with the opening and closing credits? a handglider? whaaa?) naked romp which contains only bare chested hunky manbloke Miles (who once played tarzan, wow!) O'Keefe. A brilliant subject for the MST3K treatment; try to contain your shrieks as Ator appears in his handglider. Did I mention all the O'Keefe?
Pod People:
Think ET, think that big mammoth from sesame street, think Alf from that programme 'Alf' and you have the Pod people. kind of. its cack, foreign and very funny.
Shorts One:
In the 1950's people were outrageous. Witness their obsession with fitting in, normalness and cruelty, along with a big sack of male oppression in these 'information' films telling us that the happiest way to live is to conform to 'The Man'. Comedy gold even before the MST3K crew get their hands on it.

Another Great Selection of B-movie madness!.......2004-03-09
The team at MST3K have done it again in this fantastic compilation of some of the funniest episodes yet! I was weary about buying volume too thinking perhaps that Vol.1 was a one off. However it seems quite the contrary. For those new to MST3K you basically have a bad B-Movie, one man and his robots who talk over the entire duration. This isnt mindless heckling, these people know alot about films and thankfully are very, very funny! My advice it too buy it and hope we see some more on DVD soon!

I've seen about 80 episodes, and this boxset has some of the best riffs out of all the shows. I won't spoil it by quoting any of them, suffice to say it had me in stitches of laughter many times & continues to do so on repeat viewings; in fact I'm laughing while writing this just from thinking about some of the comments.
Mystery science theater 3000.......2004-05-14
First of all, wow!
I first saw this at a mates who had the film and became addicted.
Endless searches for the collections in shops turned out hopeless, till now.
From the endless humor and literaly days of entertainment this is the most quotable, funniest and the most genius thing i've saw for a long time.
Woth every penny.

Not one of the better releases.......2005-10-22
MST3K is a show that is unfortunate in that every episode cannot be released on DVD, due largely to various rights issues with the movies shown. Therefore each collection tends to consist of whatever movies Rhino managed to get hold of this time around.
Volume 3 is probably the weakest of the collections released to date, but still contains plenty of laughs throughout it's four episodes.
The Atomic Brain is essentially about an old lady who want to switch bodies with a younger, more attractive lady. The movie itself is very dull, with only the occasional moment of goofiness to liven it up (look out for the old lady following the girls on the stairs). Happily Mike and the bots manage to liven things up with some genuinly funny remarks. Mike is still quite new as the host at this point, but milks this one for all it's worth.
The Unearthly is a very unfortunate choice of episode for this set, as it's rather similar to the Atomic Brain. Most of the action is set in a mansion, experiments are being conducted on the people there, and nothing happens. I found that the riffing in this one just wasn't as strong as with The Atomic Brain, and this is a difficult episode to sit through.
The Sidehackers is taken from the shows second season, and as such generally isn't as out-and-out funny as the later episodes. That said, this was an early classic, and the material still holds up pretty well. The movie is based on the sport of sidehacking, which I won't even bother explaining because it dissapears pretty quickly and ends up being about killing and revenge.
Shorts Volume 2 is the real highlight of the set. No movie this time, but a collection of short, dated educational films. These are taken straight from episodes of the show, most of which are unavailable on DVD, so you don't have to worry about owning the same thing twice. Really, it's about the funniest disc of MST3K you can own.
Overall this is not one of the better collections, but well worth owning if you're a fan of the show. Don't buy it at the expense of the other, superior volumes though.
