4 out of 5 stars Not bad!.......2008-02-14

it's a creature feature, so yes, it is going to be far fetched, zoologically inaccurate and yes, the bad guys are going to get eaten. The two leads have some good chemistry going, there are a few funny moments, and the snakes are suitably huge, and the whole thing zips along at a reasonable pace. What more do you really want from a creature feature.

4 out of 5 stars A WELL MADE STRAIGHT TO DVD FILM.......2007-11-04

Sleazy socialite Broddick, (Adam Kendrick) pays to have a monster boa constrictor shipped in from South America for a hunting game for his friends. When the snake gets loose from his handlers before he arrives, the local FBI Agent Sharpe, (Kirk B.R. Bookwalter) gets involved. He wrangles in Marine Research Scientist Monica, (Jaime Bergman) and renegade herpetologist Emmet, (David Hawlett) who has been breeding a giant python for vaccinial purposes. They track the python to a giant sewer system after it has attacked several people. The team originally brought in to hunt the boa in the game, gets wind of the attacks and sets out to kill the snake. The boa ends up attacking the hunters, cornering the last few in the sewer systems, where it meets the boa team and the snakes face off. The python wins the first round and escapes into the night. The boa catches up with the python at a dance club, and takes the fight into the underground railroad station for the conclusive battle.

The Good News: Most TV movies are not all that spectacular, especially TV horror movies. 'Boa vs. Python' is a rare exception in that it is based on a very clever premise about how the two snakes come into the storyline. Instead of having the two snakes being in a jungle and them fighting over territory, this one has the python being shipped in for a big game hunt, only to have it escape and the government recruits a captive boa to track the snake. This is a pretty clever new idea and makes for a premise for a skew of new ideas. The special effects are pretty realistic. The snakes are both pretty colorful, with the python being a dark black and the boa a colorful red. They are realistically designed and come off pretty convincingly. The cast is adequate, with Bergman being the best. She actually uses the dumb blond routine to full advantage early on, and is very likable in a role most would've made into a slutty type. It was a nice change of pace to have her as an intelligent woman, even if she was a blonde. It was a nice against stereotype role that was extremely refreshing to watch. With some better roles, she could be a good low-budget star in the making. She does have two big charms, but her acting is better than those are.

The Bad News: There is an almost total lack of gore in the movie. The film does have a pretty high body count for this type of movie, but all are killed in pretty dry situations. The goriest death is actually that of the losing snake, who gets decapitated by a train. Blood sprays everywhere, but that is it. This film is pretty dry considering the other, similar films, like 'Python' and 'Pythons 2' were a lot gorier. One of the victims gets bitten in half by the snakes and one is swallowed whole, but then those are very routine scenes for this kind of movie. That bit lacked total creativity and should've been changed. I'm all for giant creature movies, but the creatures need to be very creative in their killings to make the movie stand out. The killings in this one don't stand out. Suspense is also missing from this movie. There were no scenes that made you sit in you seat waiting for something to happen or jump out at the viewer. It would've made the film slightly more enjoyable. There were plenty of chances to make things take a spooky turn, but alas it failed.

The Final Verdict: 'Boa vs. Python' isn't as bad of a snake movie as you might think, but it will provide for some decent viewing experience. It will appeal more to reptile lovers than any one else, as they will get to see two mammoth snakes 'duking' it out.

4 out of 5 stars Better tahn Python and Annaconda.......2006-03-13

I bought this film along with python and annaconda, I had read the reviews and was quite honestly expecting this film to be very bad.

I decided to watch annaconda first (becuase it is supposed to be the best), followed by python and then this (becuase its supposed to be terrible).

My expectations were completely wrong, I absolutly hated annaconda becuase you barely see the snake for the first half of the film and even then it didn't really improve much.

This film is a low budget movie and it works well at doing that, if you watch it expecting an award winning movie you will be disappointed by thats just stupid.

It has its good points firstly it has David Hewlett better known as Rodney Mckay to all stargate watchers as the scientist whos giant boa named Betty is sent out to save the day. It also has the usual dose of nudity as well as the usual young couple who get 'eaten' especially the girl (if you've seen the film you know what i mean) while making out.

Its a good film and for the price it is worth getting

enjoy.

4 out of 5 stars Better than Python 1 & 2 and Boa, although boa had class.......2005-11-28

well a little bit. It had Dean Cain in it, it had to be good! right?
This had some very stupidly funny bits, some cheesy innuendos, some classy acting and one extremely wrong bit! I won't tell you what it is, cus, no one told me. I was shocked!
So, theres a big bad Python on the loose, which some stupid rich man was planning to shoot in a big game hunt. It eats people, like they do and so, some one thinks it'll be a good idea to put a big Boa in the mix, because its a good Boa! a few more people get eaten and theres a fight between the snakes, but only one survives! Then they insinuate that there will be another one! YEY!

Dispite my sarcasim, its a pretty good movie, although terribly predictable!
Watch it with friends one night and decide for yourself, although you might not have any left after the movie.

3 out of 5 stars Thank God this film was made!.......2005-09-02

Ok, first of all.......this effort of a film is definatly one of the worst films i have ever seen, and i like low budget creature features. The story is hilariously bad, the acting is just as bad, and the cgi and other effects are just plain awful.
In fact this film is soooooooo incredibly bad that it is really very funny.

I seriously dont know why someone would have made this film, it makes no sense; there are some of the most stupid things ever going on in this film, and they all add to the comical value.

Without spoiling it for you, (not like you would care anyway) when the team of 'snake hunters' are called in to deal with the giant python, my firend and I made up names for each one of the hunters seen as though they were so clearly cannon fodder.
The funniest names we came up with were Von Cruise, and Greg.M
To whoever is reading this those names will probably not seem funny, but to my friends and I they were the funniest things ever at the time, and thinking about it they still are. LOL.
That is why i have given this film 3 out of 5.

As a final statement i have to say that this film has a running time of roughly an hour and a half, and out of those 90 mins i counted (HONESTLY NOT JOKING)only 15 SECONDS of Boa Vs. Python action. That really does sum up this film.

I highly recommend buying this film for really cheap, then watch it with your friends, you will laugh like nothing else.

Nose.
